Philip is an excellent teacher and gave me very heloful pointers on my technique. I am an advanced player and have performed semi-professionally several times but hadn't learned proper technique in the past.

I plan to continue with him regularly to improve my technique and skill level.

Philip was so friendly and patient, and made my 7 year old very comfortable with her first lesson. He really knew how to speak on her level and his instruction was very positive and motivating. My daughter left the lesson very excited to start practicing what he showed her, and we can't wait till the next lesson!

My experience speaks for itself. From Drum Corp to being on tour to studio work to theater shows there really is not much I haven't played or taught, I focus a lot on how to practice because not many people really know how to practice the right way to get the most out of their performance.

About Greg

The way I teach is a little different than most teachers. Not many teachers actually teach how to practice and that seems like it's the biggest setback for new and experienced students. My experience with being on tour and with Drum Corps and theater work and Studio work I have learned that there a

"While many piano instructors teach children, I had difficulty finding someone willing to have me (an adult) as a student. I tried two different teachers before finally hearing about Niki . Her lessons focus on the basics (like scales and lessons from technique books), as well as songs. She breaks the songs into manageable portions, so I am never overwhelmed and notice my progress from week to week. Her approach works. I am getting better at reading notes and I think I sound better too. I highly recommend Niki to anyone, at any age, who needs a piano teacher."

"- Mr Mandel is the most patient instructor, which is good since he's dealing with an 8 year old girl who's not sure she even wants to play an instrument. Somehow, he manages to instruct and motivate her even when she'd rather be playing computer games.
- I also take lessons from him- I've got a music background but had no previous experience with the guitar before and Mr Mandel was able to adapt his teaching style to accommodate that nicely.
-I highly recommend him!"

"I have taken two lessons with Mr. Don Larson through FaceTime. Even though there is a 3-hour time difference, he manages to fit my lesson into his schedule. I have not taken private lessons previously, but I was in school orchestra for over two years. He has been correcting my bow hold and bowing, helping me make my cello produce nicer sounds. I really appreciate his focus on the rudiments. Mr. Don is very patient and funny at times."

"Paul is a wonderful teacher for students who are just beginning to play. From the start he talked with my son about the types of music he liked and what specific songs he wanted to learn. He is totally excited about it and practices every day. He even formed a guitar club at his high school and goes to school early to play with his friends. This is the first activity that my son has consistently enjoyed and looks forward to each week. Paul thanks for your patience, your enthusiasm and your willingness to customize lessons to fit your students interests.. you are awesome!"

"Alex is very patient and able to adapt to her students. I studied with her for a year and also got to see other students work with her and she always had a way of getting each student to accomplish their goals. I think when you look for a teacher, you really are looking for someone to teach you how to learn. So many teachers tell you something or tell you what to do but never help you develop a skillset. Alex is different in that she absolutely focuses on developing a fundamental process so that each student not only learns but knows how to learn. As a result, there is progress I can see immediately, of course, but also years down the road. If you're looking for a teacher seriously, consider someone who will make a lasting impact and will make you a better overall person— not just tell you to do something and move on. Alex is a teacher who, regardless if you pursue music, you will come out better because of her teachings. Highly recommend!"

What's the Fastest Way to Learn Piano? You Might Be Surprised!

Memorizing, beginning with scales, starting with songs, recognizing notes – there are many ways of learning to play the piano, and good teachers will tweak their methods to accommodate each student’s abilities and desires. While each method has their own merit, still some people have this question: what is the fastest way to learn piano? Is there one? They may be more eager about the destination and less concerned about the journey, but the journey is very important. But there is one techniq …

How to Sing with a "Raspy Voice" Without Hurting Your Voice

Listen, I love me a good, “gritty” rasp as much as the next person but, there is a time and a place. (Lookin’ at you, Chris Stapleton.) Yes, I said it, a vocal coach who likes to hear the enemy of healthy singing, or raspiness, every once in a while. It’s a great way to evoke emotion not just in your song but to the listener’s ear. They hear that rasp and affiliate it with passion, grit, pain, and so on! However, there is a right way and wrong way to approach raspy singing. Whe …

What’s the Difference Between Professional and Student Violins?

Getting the right instrument is one of the most important decisions in a musician's life. The right violin will feel comfortable in your hands, respond accurately and consistently to your touch, and help you produce the best possible sound for your level of musical development. Students learning the violin can rent or purchase instruments from music instrument retailers, and they offer a variety of instruments that can seem daunting for the novice violin purchaser. When will you know that it' …
