Specializing in Rock, Jazz, Blues, and many other styles. All levels welcome, whether you're a complete beginner or you're an experienced player feeling like you've taught yourself all that you can and you want to learn some jazz theory, arpeggios, scales, more complex stuff, etc.

About David
I am a 30 year old Massachusetts native and have been playing music since I was 8 years old, starting on the piano with a wonderful teacher in Beverly who also went to Berklee. I picked up the guitar and the bass in high school and got into rock, jazz and blues and haven't looked back. I received a bachelors degree from Berklee in 2012 with a major in Professional Music and minor in Music Education.

I currently perform in and around Boston with several bands and also build electric guitars and perform all types of repairs and modifications. I also will teach this skill if you are interested...

Music study is great exercise for your brain. It works both the left and right hemispheres of the brain simultaneously because you are thinking both creatively and logically/mathematically at the same time.

I am happy teaching stud
ents at any level, even if you have never picked up an instrument before. I can work with you and get you on the path to being the kind of musician you want to be.

*** Lesson Details ***
I custom tailor my lessons to meet a students individual needs. I am a serious teacher, but I am a laid back person. I am easy going, but I will make sure you learn what you need to learn. I can guarantee after 4 or 5 lessons with me, you will have tripled your knowledge of chords, scales, technique, and song repertoire. I am very patient and am happy to work with students of all ages and skill levels.

I encourage mid to upper level students to bring in CD's or email an MP3/YouTube link of songs they want to learn (if they are at the right level) and I will transcribe them on the spot and go through them with you step by step.

If you want to learn how to play all your favorite songs, I am the teacher for you. I won't make you play music you aren't really interested in, but I will make recommendations for songs to improve your playing and include music theory so that you understand what you are playing and why you are playing it. The point of playing music is to HAVE FUN, after all.

I began playing guitar at the age of ten and studied both classical and jazz guitar at the undergraduate and masters level.

In guitar lessons, we will work on technique, scales, chords, fret-board logic, and improvising.

About Sean
Hello future students,

My name is Sean I am a composer living in Waltham, MA. I hold a Master's in Music Composition from the University of Redlands and a Bachelor's in Music from the University of SC. I have been teaching guitar, bass, keyboard, audio engineering, and songwriting/composition for 3 years.

Whether you are a novice, a seasoned musician, or just someone with an old guitar and too much time on your hands, I am ready to teach you. I offer in-studio, in-home, and Skype lessons at 1/2 hr to 1 1/2 increments. In these lessons, I will provide you with the materials required. My only prerequisite is that students are required to own the instrument that they are studying.

My teaching style is based on you, the individual. There are no foolproof methods for teaching music because every student is unique. What works well f
or one student may prove to be frustrating and confusing to another. My mission is to meet you at your experience level and gently lead you to a higher understanding of music. In our first lesson together, we will discuss your goals and how we can meet them.

I offer recording services as well. I have the necessary gear and several years of experience recording various types of ensembles. Have a melody but no harmony? Let's find the chords the melody is asking for. Have chords but no melody? Let's find the melody that conveys the mood you're trying to create. Have an already existing song that you want to work on? Let's tighten it up in lessons and cut a demo of it.

This education is yours. I want you to get the absolute most out of your experience with me. If I seem like I'd be a good fit as your teacher, sign up for some lessons. I promise a fun and rewarding experience.

Best,
Sean

I am a new student -- and have never learned to play an instrument. I was encouraged by medical providers to learn an instrument as part of certain of my cognitive therapies. My instrument (the mandolin) was a gift from my son.
I have been fortunate to work with Sean O. G. Burns over the past few months. His style is perfect for my needs. He is patient, and leads with a gentle push -- no pressure! Sean is incredibly talented in his own right musically, and has talents - I'm sure, well beyond my needs -- I see him as an excellent teacher for all ages!

Solid knowledge from 18 years of playing guitar and I Graduated From Berklee College Of music as one of the first African Scholars.

About Albino
Albino was born in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, a country in southern Africa known for its rich musical and cultural heritage. Fueled by the resourcefulness and determination that have always characterized Mozambicans, he built his first guitar at 16 from a 5-liter can of oil, scrap wood, and strings made out of electrical cords.

Drawn to the sounds of neighborhood street musicians in Maputo, Albino began to play in a number of local bands. As with his home-made guitar, Albino wanted to combine styles and incorporate diverse elements in his music. For his talents to grow, he knew he needed experience new places, cultures, and sounds.

While studying music education and Performance at Universidade Eduardo Mondlane in Mozambique, he heard about the Berklee School of Music in Boston, USA, where he could expand his musical horizons
. Soon after, he was one of the first students to receive a full scholarship to Berklee through the African Scholars program. In 2009, he settled in Boston, Massachusetts.

At Berklee, he was exposed to a variety of influences, but wanted to go deeper into the roots of jazz and expand his knowledge of music. He auditioned and was selected to participate in the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, which is directed by Danilo Perez and the residency teachers, including Joe Lovano John Patitucci, and Terri Lyne Carrington. The Institute emphasizes an artist's original vision in jazz, and has helped Albino find his own unique voice in the art form.

Albino still felt the absence of his own Mozambican traditions in his music. With the help of his mentors, Richard Bona and Lionel Loueke, two of the most prominent African musicians in the United States of America today, he began to bridge that gap.

Today, Albino's music succeeds in combining many disparate parts into an organic whole. It incorporates his musical experiences from Mozambique, the U.S., and many other places around the world, combining rhythmic patterns and musical concepts to create a unique Moz-Jazz sound. He will always continue to combine and capture the energies of different musical traditions to create a unified and original musical style.

Albino's original composition “Mozambique Dance” was recorded by Jazz Revelation Records, a student-run record label at the Berklee College of Music, for the 8th annual album released in 2011. He also recorded “Awusiwana,” his own composition, for the Berklee 2012 summer album. His debut album, also called Mozambique Dance, is to be released in Spring 2013.

Albino is an active musician, and has performed in several countries including Mozambique, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Italy, the U.S., and Mexico. He has also produced and recorded various projects in Mozambique and in the United States. In 2012, he will graduate from Berklee College with a degree in Music Production & Engineering and Performance, and a minor in Acoustics and Electronics.

Ive played hundreds of gigs in my life.

My goal with students is to encourage both a love of music and the guitar as an instrument for personal expression. I want to see my students playing the music they enjoy as soon as possible. Every student is treated as an individual. Their needs, abilities and learning style are taken into consideration. I use this information to design a stude
nt specific curriculum. The experience should be fun and educational for the student.

Prices are negotiable depending on location

I encourage students to take one or two lessons per week at a regularly scheduled time. References are available.

"Aidan has been teaching my 12-year old son guitar for the last year. He started with the basics in technique and later worked with him on music appreciation. My son really enjoyed his easy-going and attentive nature and attitude. Aidan was always punctual and respectful of our schedule. I feel my son learned a lot about music and he enjoyed working with Aidan."

Aidan is a terrific teacher!! I played professionally over 35 years ago and have not played at all since. At this point I could not play ANYTHING. He took me back through the basics and got me thinking the way I did when I was in my teens. Clearly he has the technical aspect of both music and teaching down - but what made him a great teacher to me is his love of music and guitar. Reminded me of why I loved it in the first place. Although we didn't match up on style perfectly - he embraced the music that I loved and got me back up and running - could not give him a higher recommendation!!

I really enjoyed working through beginner/intermediate classical guitar with Gene. He was always prepared and very knowledgeable about the different pieces we were working on. He helped my technique tremendously, and structured my progress in a way I wouldn't have been able to do myself. I was a self-taught guitar player until i studied music at UMASS Lowell where i learned about reading music and theory. I can give a unique approach to teaching by utilizing aspects of ear training and note recognition. I also have much experience in improvisation from studying jazz and playing in an improvisational band where listening and reacting to one another are key. I also go through lesson books such as the Suzuki books up to the real book.

About Tyler
I am a very passionate music teacher, it's really who I am. I thrive off of opening the doors of music to people and teaching them a foundation upon which to grow. I graduated from UMASS Lowell with a Bachelors in Music Performance in 2014 and have 6 years of teaching experience in and around the Boston area. I play and manage a band called Skyfoot and have for about 3 years now. I have played in 35 different states, playing with all kinds of musicians across the United States. The times I spent playing and learning from the musicians at school and on the road have been some of the most insightful of my life.

I have a friend who has been taking lessons from one teacher for 3 years and learned one song! (Not even correctly) But, myself, have been taking lessons with Bob Wolfman for 2-3 months and have learned the grid method, cord construction theory, the musical staff, not to mention 2 whole songs. I would recommend this teacher to anyone willing to learn guitar correctly and productively.

I took lessons with Bob for 8 weeks, and was able to accomplish the things that I initially set out to do: have a better understanding of music theory, start to be able to read music, and to actually be able to play a song or two on the ukulele. Had my schedule not become impossible to work around, I would have continued. As someone who had never played ANY instrument, it's daunting to start at age 38, but this made it easier. I feel that I have the tools to continue to grow on my own. Thank you!

I've had 5 lessons with Alex and have already seen incredible improvement. Alex's methodology is to teach lessons but taking a song you really would like to learn, and walking you through the steps necessary to be playing it seamlessly and quickly. He throws in musical theory and other important elements of learning the instrument in there as well. I love that he always emails me a rundown of our lesson via email after the lesson so I can be reminded of things when practicing. He is extremely accommodating with his schedule, which I also really appreciate. Overall, it's been an incredibly enjoyable experience and I recommend Alex to anyone trying to learn!

Experienced guitar teacher for 4 years, player of 12 years specializing in classic and hard rock. I will not only teach you the fundamentals so you can follow alongside legends like ACDC, Metallica, and Guns N Roses, I will also teach you how to play their songs at the SAME time. No more boredom learning the basics before learning the songs; I can teach both simultaneously.

About Dennis
I first picked up guitar at the age of 9, and since then I've never put it down. After playing for 6 years, I was eventually hired by the guys who taught me the basics to teach those exact same beginner lessons to others. In total, I've played for 12 years and taught for 4.

Some things that I am:
-Considerate. It is my personal philosophy that the student's desires are top priority. To that note, I always incorporate songs or concepts that the student wishes to learn into the lesson so they feel the teaching is immediately applicable.
-Lucid. Teaching guitar for 4 years has taught me 50 different ways to teach one concept. If one method isn't getting into the head, I have 49 others to use.

Some things that i am NOT:
-A professional. I have absolutely no degree or professional accreditation in music whatsoever. That's because as f
ar as music tutoring goes, real world experience matters more than degrees.
-Expensive. Teaching guitar is a passion of mine, not a source of livelihood. I have no pressing need to pay bills teaching guitar. Therefore, my prices are cheap and reasonable.

Over the last ten years, I’ve taken a variety of classes at Old Town taught by Nathaniel, as well as private lessons, and I can tell you that you will not find a better teacher. He has a remarkable ability to make challenging guitar music attainable by breaking things down into digestible parts. He will teach to your skill level, learning style, and interests (whether fingerstyle folk, African soukous, 80’s punk, jazz, and God knows what else) If you want to learn the songs and styles of idiosyncratic masters like Nick Drake, John Fahey, or Franco Luambo Makiadi, he’s your guy. Plus, he’s really funny. Cannot recommend him enough.
