I'm a passionate chess player with an extensive knowledge of chess theory who specializes in teaching beginner/intermediate (up to ~1600 USCF) players of all ages. Lessons will be personalized to focus on student's weaknesses and areas of needed improvement, as well as generalized chess instruction. Chess is a great platform to improve critical thinking skills and one's ability to focus, as well as a great way to have fun. My lessons will help you or your children gain an understanding of the art of chess and improve your confidence and ability to play the game.

• Tutoring for many undergraduate courses in math/statistics & economics/econometrics, as well as select courses in biology, physics, social sciences, computer science, systems engineering, and other subjects / areas. Select graduate course assistance offered as well.
• Tutoring for GRE/GMAT and SAT/ACT offered with individualized gameplan/schedule.
• Help with high school and middle school curriculum in math, quantitative sciences, social sciences, writing. Help with IB & AP classes and corresponding exams.
• National Merit Scholar & several (10+) AP Tests in High School.

I have been teaching chess to children for over 20 years, specializing in beginners and intermediate players. I strive to make every lesson fun as well as instructional. I cater my lessons to fit each kind of student.

I teach beginners, intermediate, and advanced players.

Advance players are those who play in tournaments and have a USCF (United States Chess Federation) rating between 1000-1799.

For advance players I offer a special package which includes a longer session, PGN (Portable Games Notation) of master level games and access to a chess Share drive.

As soon as you get to understand chess well, you'll begin to see it's beauty and depth. Each game is an adventure. I love chess, and that is my perspective of the old and romantic game of kings and queens. I also enjoy teaching it that way, as it makes the game fun to learn and play.
