I took my first class with Sylvia this week and she is a very good teacher. She helped me learn a new skill on first class by showing me than having me do the same tasks. She is patient, straight forward in her instructions and a clear communicator. I have signed up for 3 more classes because of my first class with her

Online or In-Person Oil Painting Lessons with Las Vegas, Nevada based Carolyn K. are for beginner thru intermediate level artists who have never been taught, or perhaps never mastered, a step-by-step way of approaching painting whether it be in oils or acrylics.
Carolyn has a unique, fun and easy way of interacting with students and conveying information, sure to delight students! She feels strongly that a solid, organized structure is the surest way to achieve the success of a completed work. It is the difference between artists who can become prolific and those that accomplish few pieces in their lifetime with most works becoming abandoned out of lack of an approach to completion.

About Carolyn

I am absolutely passionate about oil painting!! If you want a teacher with passion and zeal, supportive, encouraging, and kind...I'm your gal!! I really care about your success and encouraging you to remain a life long student and lover of art!

My regular art classes were canceled due to COVID-19, but a friend knew someone who was taking some some private classes online with Carolyn and I decided to try it out. Now that I have, I think it's much better than being a single face among many! I'm improving so much with the one-on-one feedback and suggestions that I'm getting and Carolyn is such a kind, funny, and personable woman that I don't feel intimidated at all, even though my skills aren't where I'd like them to be. She's also extremely flexible with scheduling - with the shelter-in-place orders and with kids in the house 24/7, I can't always meet at the same time every session, but she lets me choose what works best for me which is another thing I don't get with regular classes. I'll definitely continue taking classes with her even after life returns to normal. Thanks Carolyn!

Jonathan is without a doubt a talented professional photographer / artist. Yet he has adapted himself to working with a novice trying to navigate a new digital camera before a big Patagonia vacation of a lifetime. Whether you are a beginner like I am or a professional photographer looking to improve your game, Jonathan will exceed your expectations. I like his patient and calm approach to my questions and after only two lessons I have already improved so much.

I have learned a lot from Jonathan so far. He has been very helpful in helping me understand PhotoShop and Lightroom. I would highly recommend him.

I like to take pride in making my students feel secure and knowing and seeing the improvement they make within each session. I will be handing out a materials list prior to our lessons. Most students see a huge leap in drawing within the the first lesson! Class starts out usually with me giving a 1 hour demonstration on what I expect them to do as I cover and explain my entire process and thought and calculations that goes into drawing and painting. For the rest of the class I will be besides the student as they work giving them one on one pointers and as much help and explanation as they need in order to improve. Students start out with learning how to look and draw what they observe accurately by first working on simple geometric shapes such as spheres, cubes. We then will move on to Cast studies and after a few months of studying we will start on figures and portraits.

I had a huge coincidence by having a lesson with Kai in the Bay Area. He and I have the same point of view about learning drawing that helps me to understand his tips and instructions. It is a true pleasure to be his student, I was feeling like I’m detective who’s seeking for tips and clues and try to transfer all of that onto the paper. Also he is really good by explaining how to see simple shapes and figures in every object, how to extend an imaginary line and keep angles which did and will help me to draw more consciously. Highly recommend him anyone who wants to improve its drawing and painting skill.
Antoinette
Kai is the best art teacher I ever had, he is genuine and puts his heart and soul into making sure you learn everything there is to know to be a successful artist.
Emily
Kai is an excellent instructor and has left a tramendious mark on me as both a student and an artist. Kai may be young, but he has knowledge beyond his years through skill and ambitiously being self taught he has been commended on nationally. Kai in the fall attended FACE and was recently awarded a certificate of excellence from The Portrait Society of America. I very grateful to have worked with him and been walked through his very informative and beautiful demos. Crique from Kai is wonderful and facilitates vast and constructive improvement in skill level. Would highly recommend Kai!

There are so many reasons to learn to draw. Perhaps you are applying for college and want to strengthen your portfolio? Maybe you changing careers and need to strengthen your visual thinking? Or you may just want to learn to draw for fun. Whatever your reason is, I can help. I have been teaching drawing for 20 years and I’ve worked with students of all ages, from young adults to retirees. There seems to be a notion out there that “one must have a talent for art before they can learn to draw. ” One thing I can say for sure is that this absolutely NOT true. With the right knowledge, a strong desire to learn, and a willingness to try, anyone can learn to draw.

I teach students how to draw from a classical studies background, but I believe in nurturing the uniqueness of each student and honoring their learning style. Unlike a classroom setting, a private lesson frees us up to build the lessons specifically around the student's goals and needs.

About Sharon

Do you want to learn to draw/paint or improve your work? Are you applying for college and need portfolio advice? Did you want to get back into doing art after many years without it? Are you a mid-career artist and just need some feedback and a new perspective? Are you changing careers and nee

Sharon is the best art teacher I’ve ever had. She excels in explaining a concept verbally and then showing visual examples of it. With her positive and encouraging teaching style, Sharon guided me to better myself as a beginning artist. Her teaching technique is uncomplicated and easy to follow. When you take a class with her, not a single session goes by without learning something new. Without reservation, I would recommend taking an art class with Sharon.

Sharon McNeil is a talented instructor. She is able to assist students in retaining crucial information regarding source of light, shadow placement and overall composition. She is skilled at color mixing. In our classes she set up large still life arrangements at the center of the room that were our focus. She provided painting demonstrations that helped put theory into action. A good teacher.

"Great teacher and a wonderful experience. My daughter loves to go to class and have lots of fun while learning new techniques.
Kids are actually exposed to various mediums. The really good part is you can also see older kids working on really good pieces of art, which is a very motivating for the younger ones. Personally Ms Maggie is very kind and gentle and a pleasure to know. I recommend any parent looking to enroll their kids into an art program to take them to her class and you WON'T regret it!"
