Watercolor is fun and easy, even relaxing. My students are excited that their project is easily fixable due to the paints, surfaces and techniques. Watercolor creates it's own design that cannot be achieved with any brush.

Beginners welcome, intermediate welcome, and anywhere in between. All Supplies are included.

Come and see how easy watercolor can be!

About Carolyn

I have been painting for approximately 25 years. I started with pet portraits as I love animals and love capturing their personalities. Wild animals and oceans also became subjects and anything that captured my attention. I tried teaching and discovered I love it. I have taught many people of

Japanese calligraphy is a form of calligraphy, or artistic writing, of the Japanese language.

In modern calligraphy, a number of tools are used to make a composition. Most basic four tools were collectively called Four Treasures of the Study.
You need to purchase at the Japanese store or internet store.

1. A brush
2. An ink stick (sumi).
3. Mulberry paper (washi)
4. An inkstone (suzuri) to grind the inkstick against, mixed with water.

5. A paperweight (bunchin) to hold the paper in place
6. A cloth (shi ta ji ki) to place under the paper (often newsprint is used as well) to prevent ink from bleeding through.

I'm totally new to Japanese and I was very nervous. I just completed my 4th lesson and I'm finding learning Japanese is fun! Toshi is very patient and he is helping me create a plan forward. I have been working hard and have kind of gotten Hiragana,Katakana, but I need a lot more practice. I am able to read and write some words and in our lesson today I spoke my first complete Japanese sentence. Thank you Toshi for your help and for making my Japanese journey fun!

"We are happy to have found Kai on TakeLessons. Kai works with our high school junior on her portfoilio and submissions for art competitions. The weekly online lessons involve setting goals, conceptualizing, live demonstrations and live coaching. We were initially worried about the effectiveness of online lessons but it has worked out perfectly so far in the second month of lessons. Our daughter has already shown improvement in her technique, and an enthusiasm for the lessons and for the pieces she’s working on with Kai."
