For singers, I can show you how to easily accompany yourself and sound like a pro without reading a note.

For children, I make lessons fun and varied with learning and musical games to keep them excited and engaged.

For classical players wanting to try other styles, I can show you how to improvise and jam in several styles (I went through the transition and I know how it is!)

Piano should be fun! I've taught for 10 years all ages and abilities. We choose songs that student is interested in a. Any genre that he/she is passionate about. I include some exercises and theory based around the songs we are working on. This makes it easier to memorize , read and understand music. It is like reading notes as words rather than a jumble of dots. I love jazz and classical and have toured domestically/internationally with pop acts.

About David

Classical, Jazz, Pop, R&B. Anything you are interested in! I include a variety of activities during the lesson that help keep it engaging and develop a complete understanding of the piece. This includes some light ear training, theory and exercises which can all be tapered to ability and repertoire

I vary students’ lessons with their interests and find the best teaching methods and practices to fit their needs. Because I believe everyone is different and unique. No one can stop you on learning anything but yourself. Therefore, I want students to focus on every lesson and have to practice outside of class which are required and important. Playing music is fun but learning takes time!!

I believe that learning music is built upon a strong relationship between teacher and student. This relationship involves good communication, honesty, open mindedness, and most importantly the desire to LEARN and have FUN. I approach teaching music by knowing and understanding the student's musical goals, and teaching fundamentals, theory, and technique through the styles of music that the student wants to learn. For beginners, I tend to teach basic technique through simple songs to get the student playing music as quickly as possible. As technique and reading ability improve, we use the genre of music the student selects.

Excellent Instructor

I'm a college music professor, and so I have experience in the area. Melissa is a superb instructor. She is patient and engaging, and my daughter (age 9) loves her lessons. She applies just the right amount of "pressure" so that things are fun, but also on task and moving forward. Five star instruction. Highly recommend.

"We love joey!!! He's a great teacher because he teaches the way that is right for the student. He comes to our house twice a week to teach our 5-year-old son, who wasn't particularly interested in learning the songs from the book, scales, etc, so Joey changed it up to make it fun for him by focusing on making up songs and improvising (while still sneaking in some of the technical stuff). Our son looks forward to his lessons so much! Joey is obviously a masterful pianist and could teach at any skill level."

"I started learning piano as an adult. There's so much to learn it could take a lifetime. With gabriel he give me the tools I need to know where to begin and builds you up from there. This is important because it builds a solid foundation from the start. Gabriel is awesome,he's not afraid to take the songs and pieces you want to learn and incorporate those into your lesson and learning program. This way you learn both what you want but also what you need. His patience and passion for music really shows and he really cares if you are learning and progressing . You will learn how to play piano from Gabriel."
