The first lesson was successful. My particular background in piano is unique, and my needs are atypical as well. I thought Thomas assessed my abilities, lack of abilities, and goals well and quickly. He started me on a different perspective on looking at music (reading the staff) that seems very helpful. I'm encouraged.

I am so thankful to have found Marcus as my bass instructor; he is the exact type of teacher I was looking for. His training and love for music were evident upon first meeting him. I have learned so much in the short time I have been taking lessons. He is a very patient and passionate teacher.

All around wonderful teacher

Marcus is quite the gifted teacher. By far the best I've had the pleasure to aspire under. He is very easy to understand, and doesn't overwhelm you, taking time on the little things (the most important). He creates an atmosphere that is encouraging to learn in. We all know those teachers that create a stressful environment that inhibits progressive learning, as well as frustration in yourself. Marcus is certainly the opposite. He is also quite easy to communicate with--Creating lesson plans, setting goals, etc... In summation, a professional and a friend I would recommend to anyone and everyone.

David is a bright and multi-talented musician and teacher. He has shared his passion for music with my two daughters, teaching them piano. He is patient and kind. His approach strikes a perfect balance between imparting theory, technique and mechanics and being silly and having fun! Both of my daughters really enjoy him and look forward to their weekly lessons. The two girls are very different in their strengths, interests and personalities. He tailors his lessons to each of them to play to their strengths and tastes beautifully. And he is always positive and encouraging even when they are squirrely. I can't recommend him highly enough.

"Gregory Valens Luv is a phenomenal vocal coach. He's very detailed in teaching you structure of the body to relax you and open you up for singing. I love his technique. I find myself very relaxed and limber which brings out the best in me. He's very creative and shares various types of vocalizations to help you with every style of music. He's also got a sweet spirit and that makes it very enjoyable to come to class."

"I have been taking theory/harmony lessons with Mr. Joseph Nikita for 4 years now and couldn't be any more satisfied with his teaching style.
Mr. Nikita takes the complex concepts of music harmony and breaks them down to the point where they become easy to understand, retain, and apply to my homework and compositions.
One thing I much admire in Mr. Nikita's teaching is the variability in his explanations. I don't prefer learning in a lecture-style environment (where the teacher lectures and the student takes notes), so Mr. Nikita takes each topic and explains it in multiple ways - using real-life applications and examples. This helps me obtain a clear understanding of each lesson - making it easy to go in depth in music harmony."

"Shon Morgan is absolutely the greatest most talented musician and music teacher I have ever had the privilege of learning from and playing music with. I am a drummer/guitarist/vocalist. We did some touring gigs together in our earlier years and he was already amazing back then. He sat down and taught me the circle of fifths off the top of his head in one conversation. I learned so much just playing along side him. So not only is he an amazing player, but he is also very well suited and experienced as a teacher. He is the most knowledgeable musically but patient and kind personally. He plays and teaches multiple instruments and vocals really well but he stands out tremendously on bass guitar! You can not go wrong having Shon Morgan as your teacher, period!"

I have taken music theory at mercer county college and I have to say that I learned more from Jim than I did in a whole semester. I highly recommend him."

"Jimmy is a great instructor. He takes you seriously no matter what you skill or knowledge level is. When I started with Jimmy I could play guitar but generally only Cowboy chords.

Jim was patient, he analyzed how I played , what I knew and he tailored lessons around what I knew. That way I got the most out of my time and money spent. I can go on and on about Jimmy but for you sake I'll just say that I highly recommend him"

"AMAZING!

I met Dave in my music theory class at Ex'pression college. He's the reason why I'm making music today. I went from not knowing a thing about music theory or a piano to creating chord progressions, understanding modes, intervals, modal interchange, and how to read sheet music. He's extremely patient, professional, and easy to get along with. His passion for music and teaching is infectious, I highly recommend!!!"

Music Student Face-Off: Memorizers vs. Readers | Which is Better?

As you learn songs and work through your music books, do you memorize the notes? Or do you read along every time you play? In this post, music teacher Vanessa G. discusses the pros and cons to the approaches...   Imagine your teacher gives you a piece of music to study. What's your process? Do you listen to a recording, memorizing the melody and the stylistic aspects before you begin, and then as you play? Or would you sit down and sight read the notes, and perfect it from that star …
