“To take photographs means putting one’s head, one’s eyes, one's heart on the same axis.”

- Henri Cartier Bresson.

Are you ready to open your eyes to fresh ways of seeing and perceiving the world around you?

I teach the secrets of Natural Light Portrait and Street Photography. Through private one-on-one lessons, you will push beyond the cameras, lenses and technical jargon. You will learn the “insider” tricks necessary to enhance your observation, increase your anticipation, develop your timing, and build a photography style that is individual to you.

Each lesson is “hands on,” as we review together what you shoot between lessons. The goal is to help you analyze what works and what doesn’t, and you will grow in your confidence and skills.

For each of my students, I go above and beyond. I support my students with encouragement and specific feedback. My lessons will challenge you, but we will move at a pace that's comfortable for you. You will also laugh and have fun!

My watercolor technique involves using water brushes where the water is stored in the handle of the brush. They are easy to use, portable and easy to cleanup.

Had my first lesson last night to learn about night photography. I bought myself a fancy camera (Sony A7R4) and I had no idea how to use it or what any of the buttons did other than turning it on and having it set to auto. I didn’t know the first thing about photography other than point and shoot. Irina immediately had me change my camera to manual and told me to not use auto. I loved that! Irina also told me the lesson was going to be a lot of information for a beginner such as myself wanting to learn about my photography first. Yes, it was a lot to take in but, I can say that I left my lesson with Irina feeling way more confident about how to use my camera properly and I can’t wait to have additional lessons to learn more. Now I know the 3 basic settings of Shutter, Aperture and ISO and how they affect your shots and Irina even put together a booklet for me that explains the basics of photography that includes the need to know information on how to change settings depending on photography location, lighting time of day, desired effects etc. Fantastic job Irina and I can’t wait to learn more with additional lessons.

Great start to first lesson

I lost the "joy" of photography with Irina. Technically, she knows her stuff, but her sensitivity and people skills are lacking. Barely an encouraging word. I felt degraded, nervous, and overall shitty by the end of the second lesson. Hoping for a better experience with another teacher.

Want to improve your realist drawing skills with ongoing step-by-step guidance and support? If so, I am here to provide students with a methodical approach to classical realism based on the traditions founded during the Renaissance. We will follow the curriculum I learned in studying classical art with emphasis on the handling of materials, accurate observation of 2-D shapes, the relationship between light and form and a how to bring a drawing to a high level of refinement. The exercises increase in difficulty as skills become more refined; this helps the student to not get overwhelmed and stay focused. Drawing is the foundation of all art and what you learn here will help guide you throughout your artistic career. I'm excited to work with you and look forward to helping you achieve your artistic goals!

About Jason

Hello, my name is Brandie and I specialize in teaching beginner/intermediate photography. I enjoy teaching this subject to those new to the field or those that want to further their hobby. My focus is on fine art photography so I am well rounded in the use of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom for post-processing. Photography is an art form and can be utilized in countless ways. Once you master the basics, you can walk away with the confidence to photograph in any setting.

Color, composition, camera settings and of course post processing. I am also highly skilled in photomanipulation and composite work if that is an area you'd like to work on. Photography should be fun, challenging and rewarding, we can bring all three to the classroom to reach your full potential.

About Brandie

I have been a professional photographer for over 9 years and graduated with a degree in photography in 2012. I have a passion for what I do and love to share all the knowledge and experiences I've had over the years. I have a studio west of Chicago that can be used to demonstrate lighting and te

"I made a last minute lesson with Megan as I panicked about a university project that I was in no way prepared for. She is a calming and professional energy that guides you along the first few movements. At the end of the class she summed up what the next steps would be, making sure to set me up for success. I will definitely be signing up again!"

"Roya is an excellent teacher. She has been my art tutor since the time I was a teenager (and now I am in my 30s). She is patient, kind, and creative in her pedagogy methods: she finds multiple ways to explain the same concepts and techniques so it will stay with you. She is also an extremely knowledgeable art historian, having her as a teacher is like having a live encyclopedia. I am so happy to have found her as my art tutor and my friend."

"I had the crazy idea of gifting to the girl I like a painting of her favorite flower. She lives in Shanghai and I was flying to over from New York. The problem was that I did not know how to paint. Because I had been so busy with work, I waited until last week before my flight to take lessons. Guiseppe guided me on how to approach my project and how to mix colors. Could not have done it without his instruction. Thank you."
