I can teach beginning guitar students how to play their favorite songs. Also, how to read tabs and chord charts. Advanced students can learn theory and jazz improvisation. I can help students who have been using a capo learn how to play bar chords so you will no longer need a capo.
Guitar students should be at least nine years old.
I do not teach finger picking style.

Each lesson will consist of a unique and personalized curriculum to fit the student’s needs. This will be done at a pace that allows for confidence to be built and a complete understanding of the material. Each student is taught the basic skills of guitar so that they can become an independent and self-sufficient musician with a strong fundamental foundation. Crucial skills such as reading music, scales, various chords, and more will be taught in each lesson. Each lesson will be just as enjoyable as it is informative. After all, “pleasure in a job puts perfection in the work”. That is why I ask each Student to bring a song or piece that he/she enjoys working on. Overtime, all the skills learned will allow students to play with confidence!

Mark was very patient yet informative. He pointed out areas to improve upon and complemented me where I had been working hard. I was comfortable with his online lesson because he looked me straight in the eyes as though we were face to face. Mr. Sylvester is one of the greatest. He is not just an amazing guitarist, but he is also very kind. He treats people with so much respect. He speaks to me and my mom so nicely. He is very patient. He has a deep knowledge of music and knows how to get the most out of even the least talented people (like me!). He doesn't ever get mad if you make a mistake or forget to bring your music notes. We were so lucky to find Mr. Sylvester.

"Paul is the man

I am older than your average student. I had never taken lessons before and always wanted to learn to play guitar so I went out an purchased an acoustic guitar. I tried to learn from on line as well as purchased DVD's but it just didn't feel right. There was something missing like the human touch. I had heard about Paul from a relative who gave me insight about his background and his education. I decided to give him a try.

I called the place that he was working at and booked my first lesson. He carefully went over how he was going to teach me and then patiently worked with me.

I know that I will never be as good as Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck or Paul William, but to know that I can play a little is very gratifying."
