Learn Piano in Less Time with My Studio & Piano Software Teaching Style

Lifelong piano learner, college trained, and now teacher over the past 7 years, piano is my preferred choice of musical expression. I teach all ages (earliest 4 yrs); (note: as of 3/15/2020 [due to state shutdown] only online lessons for ages 8 plus are being accepted until further notice). Lessons are customized for each student depending on their personal goals and preferences. Beginners will find the lessons motivational and enjoyable. All of my students CAN DO! Lessons are logical, and based on a step-upon-step learning system. I also have success with intermediate students who may have hit the wall, or are finding difficulty moving on in their learning. I am committed to identifying that barrier (whatever it may be) and helping the pianist overcome the issue. I specifically incorporate keyboard recognition, music reading/theory, artistic expression, composition, and ear training and stress outside lesson practice.

    About Joni C.

Music has been a lifetime career. My personal quest for piano playing came as young as four years old; and my journey through school, church, and community vocal and instrumental experiences has enriched not only my skills but performance abilities, as well. After 25 years of collegiate involvement; I started my own piano studio and have been teaching piano to all ages since 2012. Currently, the JoZly Music Studio has trained over 100 individual students. During the two year shutdown, the only method of teaching was via online; however, we are now open to both online or in-person. The one major change is that we are only taking beginning students ages 4 to 12. I teach any style of music from classical to gospel. I have a strong classical background so I enjoy teaching all my students, even as young as 4 to learn about and play classical pieces (e.g. Beethoven, Bach, Mozart). Since my vocal involvement has allowed me to participate in school, church and community music groups and singing solo, I have a strong background in pianist accompaniment which is a unique skill that every piano musician should master. This creates a well rounded approach so that the pianist can participate and showcase their talent in various ways. I like to teach students to play beyond what is in the written page, and to develop a musical ear through improvisation and memorization. My students have the opportunity to play in optional recitals with other students and for family.

    Move Over Mozart

I taught 3-12 year olds piano in a class setting year around for nearly 3 years. Each 10 week session, I typically taught 40-70 students each week. I have developed an intuitive understanding of various skill levels, learning styles, and early childhood behaviors so that I can bring out the best talent in each student.
