My goal is to give you or your child the most comprehensive music education that suits the student's level and goals for the future. Students will be exposed to a whole range of music, styles and creative endeavors. All lessons are created to suit the individual goals, desires, and loves of each student. I encourage my students to be curious and creative. I show students how music is constructed and how they can make up their own. I help students learn music that they want to learn. I develop their reading and technique. Students will learn a large amount of repertoire and enjoy their process of learning the art of playing the piano.

About Yi Qing T.

I have presented piano concerts and recitals in many international concert venues and music festivals in Australia, Singapore, China, Italy, Austria, Canada, and the United States. A winner of many competitions and scholarships, I was the prize winner at Chautauqua Piano Competition in New York; Lois Trester Piano competition in Arizona; Knigge Canadian National Piano Competition, and Xing Hai Cup Chinese National Piano Competition.

I am a classically trained pianist and has been teaching piano for over 13 years in China, Singapore, Canada, and the United States. Previously, I served as the class piano instructor at the University of British Columbia and the University of Arizona. I enjoy teaching in a culturally diverse environment and have worked with students of all ages and levels. Several of my former students passed their Royal Conservatory of Music piano exam with a high grade and won top prizes at the local piano competitions.

I was born in China, a family of amateur musicians. My early piano training was influenced heavily by the Russian music tradition. In 2007, I received the fellowship funded by the Singapore National Arts Council to attend the National University of Singapore, Young Siew Toh Conservatory of Music. I completed her master's studies with the legendary American pianist Sara Davis Buechner at the University of British Columbia in 2013. I earned a Doctoral of Musical Arts degree (DMA) in piano performance from the University of Arizona.

In addition, I am an active researcher. I pursued a minor in psychology at the University of Arizona. I had been invited to give presentations at the national and international music conferences, such as 2019 Music Teacher National Association (MTNA) Conference in Spokane and the International Symposium on Performance Science at the University of Melbourne.
