Learn the best guitar playing techniques from a Certified Instructor with 30+ years of Experience.
Are you interested in learning to play the music you love, using techniques that are actually healthy for your hands? My instruction promotes efficient, ergonomically sound, time-tested playing techniques.
Do you want to play well? Then you need to learn to practice well. Quality practice coaching will make a profound difference in your ability to learn and play music effectively, but it takes time. That's why I offer weekly full hour lessons at a reasonable price. Practice well and you will play well.
I provide instruction in formal classical as well as popular music styles, and offer training for acoustic as well as electric (nylon and/or steel string) instruments.
About me: I earned my Degree in Music Education from Shenandoah Conservatory where I studied Classical Guitar, Jazz Guitar, Violin, Piano, Music Theory, Psychology, and other related areas, before graduating with Magna Cum Laude Honors in 1996. I have been providing quality music instruction to my students for over 30 years now. I work well with adults as well as children from a wide variety of backgrounds.
I look forward to hearing from you and thanks again for your time.

About William G.

With over 30 years of experience providing professional guitar instruction, and well over 35 years of experience playing music, I have enjoyed working with students as well as other musicians with broadly diverse backgrounds. I have performed solo, played in rock bands, blues and jazz combos, duos, trios, and classical guitar quartets as well as large guitar ensembles.
I earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and graduated with High Honors. My formal training includes classical guitar performance, jazz guitar and improvisation, music theory and arranging, psychology, piano, violin, recording, and much more.
Students currently studying with me include young through older adult and retirement age students with performance goals ranging from the private, personal enjoyment of playing music, to professional and semi-professional aspirations.
I strive to provide a friendly, comfortable learning environment my students can thrive in. I won't pressure you to play in recitals in order to increase my studio size, but I will greatly encourage you to play an active role in customizing your own individual curriculum. As soon as you have the skills to do so, you should be learning to play the music you love.
Regardless of what your musical goals are, I would love to help you learn the skills you need to reach them. Thank you so much for your time.

Our 14 year old son has been taking guitar lessons with William for over 2 years now, and he absolutely loves it! William is a fantastic teacher, and he has helped our son improve his guitar playing skills immensely. William is very patient and encouraging, and he always takes the time to make sure that the student is learning and progressing at his/her own pace.
I highly recommend William to anyone who is looking for a guitar tutor for themselves or for their child. He is an excellent teacher, and he is passionate about helping his students succeed.
