Tai Chi is for everyone. The movements are slow and simple. Multidirectional weight shifting, body alignment, coordinated movements of arms, legs and trunk are designed to improve upright posture, circulation, flexibility, strength and balance. As a meditation Tai Chi emphasizes deep breathing, relaxation and the use of imagination to cultivate inner peace. Tai Chi is used to cultivate health, internal power and creativity and improve every aspect of your life. I have been practicing “Tai Chi Arts” for 40 years. I have studied Taoist philosophy, the laws of yin and yang, and how they are revealed in Tai chi chuan, Tai chi sword, and Tai chi fan, as well as Macrobiotic cooking and lifestyle, sumi-e (Japanese ink painting), frame drumming, modern dance and peace in the family. * * * * * The I Ching encourages us to always improve ourselves. Improvement is aided by longevity – the longer you live, the more time for improvement. Based on the I Ching and Taoist philosophy, Tai Chi Chuan is a method of self improvement physically, mentally, and spiritually. It is a method of cultivating longevity by improving health directly and improving survival awareness. It is a method of human communication, and communication between people and the environment. Tai Chi Chuan is the art of sustainability and evolution of the human individual and all of humanity. * * * * * If you want to improve yourself and your relationships Tai Chi will help you to understand yourself, be more sensitive to others and with clearer judgment make better choices. If you are ill or have any disability you will find the slow simple rhythmic movements relaxing and healing as they balance the nervous system and move stagnation. If you suffer mentally for example with an addiction, depression, PTSD, etc., you will learn to train your mind to focus, concentrate and imagine with precision the improvement you desire. If you are looking to enhance your spirituality you will learn how to feel and direct the invisible energies available to you allowing the evolution of your soul. If you are a healer you will learn how to protect yourself from overextending your energies in the service of others. If you are an artist you will learn how to cultivate the creativity of your unique soul and manifest it through the prism of your body. If you are an athlete you will find Tai Chi to be the perfect cross training practice, improving strength, flexibility, balance, endurance, and aim. If you like to meditate, Tai Chi form practice is an invocation of the primordial opposites and a meditation on their ceaseless flow one into the other. If you are a peacemaker you will learn how to step aside from or neutralize negativity and stand strong and centered in your vision for peace and harmony.
