Learn Piano from a Professional with 18+ Years of Experience
Since 2004, I've taught students ranging from 4 year old beginners to 70+ year old piano teachers playing everything from classical masterworks to the blues to film music to covers of top 40 songs, among others. My specialty is classical piano, but I enjoy other styles and a number of my students love to explore other styles, too. You'll learn a solid core foundation that will transfer to playing well in any style; strategies for how to practice well; and, we will custom tailor the curriculum to meet your goals and interests!
About Wade M.

Hi! My name is Wade, and I have been performing and teaching music since 2004. I hold a BM and MM in piano performance, and have worked full-time in music since 2011. I've enjoyed teaching students ranging from adult piano teachers and hobbyists to pre-professional musicians and people of all ages learning for fun. My students have performed in recitals, won auditions at the National Piano Guild, and participated in the Interlochen summer festival, among many other events. We will tailor lessons to suit your goals. As a pianist, I've performed across the country as a soloist and a collaborator, including recitals with faculty members of the Peabody Conservatory, Oberlin Conservatory, US Air Force Band, and the National Symphony Orchestra. My appearances have focused on classical music, but have also included musical theater, blues, jazz, tango, and improvisation of different genres. I've also been an active church musician since 2014, which helped me to broaden my skills with pipe organ, singing, conducting, arranging, composing, improvising, music production, and more. As a teacher, my goal is not to impress students. My goal is to show students effective strategies and techniques to learn music and piano to not only fit their goals but to have a solid enough background to pursue their developing future goals. Freedom at the instrument and in whatever mode of music the student would like to pursue is the aim. I emphasize a strong understanding of musical and technical fundamentals using a mixture of the Orff and Suzuki methods, my pedagogical training from my degrees, and my own research. I have personally experienced the frustrations of trying to learn music I was not prepared for, and trying to correct my own bad habits. I've been there! Thankfully, I learned the remedy is always a return to and strengthening of the basics. Whether you're just starting out in music or are looking for some extra guidance along the way, I would be happy to help you succeed!

Teacher's Studio

Everything looks good for the first session time will tell.

Teacher's Studio

Mr. Meyers has been my son's piano teacher for four years. He is so knowledgable, and is also very patient to student. My son likes his lesson so much because the lesson is fun. From what my son learned, I appreciate what he taught. He teaches student not only play/perform piano but also understand/enjoy piano or music. My son benefits from his good teaching at music thoery. On his first private percussion trail lesson past week, my son's furture percussion teacher is very satisfied with his skills on scales and sightreading.

Omicron Delta Kappa

Omicron Delta Kappa was founded on Dec. 3, 1914 on the campus of Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va. The Society was founded by a group of 15 students and faculty who believed that leadership at the collegiate level should be recognized and encouraged across all phases of campus life. This general principle—that scholarship alone couldn’t predict success, and that other intrinsic qualities had value too—became known as the OΔK Idea.
