Born in Brooklyn, New York, I now happily reside in East Tennessee where my husband and I moved in 2016. Originally a teacher in a top district in NYC, I now reside and teach here. I am a licensed and certified elementary teacher of all subjects. Music, chess, and ELA are among my many passions! Teaching these three subjects online make up the substance of my private tutoring business. I am enthusiastic, patient, and upbeat and will help you every step of the way on your learning journey. Some of my many hobbies are hiking, camping, knitting, crocheting, gardening, and I've just begun to learn watercolor painting. I love nature, animals, and great music in all genres. PIANO: My piano curriculum includes Faber Piano Adventures, and syllabi for the Royal Conservatory of Music and ABRSM. If desired, I prepare students for piano exams to strengthen students' professionalism and qualifications for private schools/universities. For those not wishing to take piano exams, I am happy to simply teach a rich and broad curriculum for your learning pleasure. CHESS: I have a certificate in Chess Ed. from UT at Dallas. I've included chess in my classroom since 2007, and teach adults as well. I've increased students' chess strength for tournaments and personal enjoyment. Both piano and chess lessons provide ideal enrichment for public, private, and home-schooled students. ELA: I've been teaching since 2006 and can help your child with all required writing genres, reading strategies, speaking/listening skills, grammar, punctuation, and handwriting. All English Language Arts Various ELA standards will be included in your tutoring sessions as needed. My approach is geared to engage the student by using their personal interests to ensure reading and writing improvements.
