Bassoon with Valerie C.

I’m a professional classical bassoonist offering beginning and intermediate lessons to all ages! I’ve performed throughout Los Angeles, San Diego, and Boston in orchestras, wind bands, and chamber groups for a variety of events. I received my Bachelor of Music in Bassoon Performance from San Diego State University and my Master of Music in Bassoon Performance from Boston University, with competitive coursework in music theory and bassoon study. I am comfortable with students of all ages and am happy to offer reedmaking instruction to any student interested! I believe a comprehensive bassoon study includes technical proficiency, creative fulfillment, and performance practice. I tailor the pacing of lessons to each student’s unique needs and skill level, so study is both challenging and rewarding. Lessons will also include proportionate attention to building crucial music theory and ear training skills needed to be a confident and independent musician. I aim to balance my own critiques and advice with guided self-evaluation; throughout the process of study, students will be encouraged to reflect on what skills they have learned and how we as a team can master new ones.
