Hi, there! My name is Tony, and I'm a guitarist & clarinetist originally from D.C. I graduated from Berklee College of Music (Magna Cum Laude) with a Bachelor of Music in Performance, where I was a recipient of the WST and the BAS Scholarship. I've toured internationally and played at clubs all over the U.S.
On guitar, my teachers have included Mick Goodrick & Richie Hart. I have studied jazz improvisation with Hal Crook & Ed Tomassi. On clarinet, I studied under Kenneth Lee, who was a student of the Juilliard school under Leon Russianoff.
My specialties are in classical, jazz, blues, & pop/rock. A long-time student of mine will have strong knowledge of the fretboard, chords, music theory, a repertoire of tunes, and proficiency in different idioms.
It is important that my students understand the fundamentals really well. In addition to that, proper technique, solid repertoire, reading, and improvisation will be studied.
Tony is a great teacher!
I started learning the clarinet half a year ago after playing the piano for almost 25 years. Even though I have a lot of music background, I had to start from scratch since I have no experience in any of the woodwind instruments. I'm glad I found Tony to be my clarinet teacher because not only he is a very patient person, he also notices my strengths and also weaknesses, so that I could spend more time on things that I need to work on to be better at the clarinet.
He is very easy to communicate, lessons are always fun and productive, I've been having a lot of fun picking up this new instrument!
Tony is an amazing teacher, very friendly, and very enthusiastic about teaching. :)
Tony is doing an excellant job. He was highly recommended and they were correct.
