About Tommy V.

I am a drummer, producer and educator from Chicago, IL. As a recent graduate from the University of Colorado Boulder, I moved back to Chicago to pursue my music and teaching career in the summer of 2018. I have been playing music and taking lessons since I was 5 years old and picked up the drums (my true passion) when he was 10. I have been producing, writing songs and session drumming since my early teens, recorded and collaborated with dozens of artists and have an extensive performance and touring background in various concert settings such as theaters, weddings, music festivals, dive bars, private events and jam hosting (averaging 100+ shows per year from 2015-2018). This past year, I had the honor of playing sold out theaters and have shared the stage with legendary and blossoming musicians from projects such as The Motet, Lettuce, Vulfpeck, Snarky Puppy, The Floozies, RJD2, Break Science, Melvin Seals & JGB, Zach Deputy, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, The Werks, Tauk, The Magic Beans, and the Jaden Carlson Band among many others. In addition to teaching, I play in a number of Chicago bands, regularly session as a studio drummer at Fort Knox Studios and lead my own rock n roll inspired solo project. I specialize in performing and improvising in a variety of styles including: Rock, jazz, blues, country, hard rock, R&B, hip-hop, funk, jam-band, bluegrass, singer/songwriter, Cajun, zydeco, New Orleans based music and several Latin styles.
