Cello with Tom M.

Tom is an active educator, soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. He earned a B.M. degree at the University of Kansas studying with Ed Laut, and a M.A. degree at the University of Iowa studying with Anthony Arnone. He has also studied with Anthony Elliott in Ann Arbor, MI, Michael Mermagen at the Aspen Music Festival and has played with the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, FL. About my Teaching: I believe it is important for all students of music to find and develop their own individual sound. Having your own sound is just like having your own voice, and that's what makes listening to and making music so enjoyable. It also helps encourage students to practice, improve and have fun! All students have strengths and weaknesses and learn in their own unique ways. My role as a teacher is to help develop efficient practice routines while nurturing strengths and empowering students with knowledge and confidence to succeed.
