I am a professional guitarist and song writer. I've toured the US numerous times and have played with well known groups like Jimmy Eat World and Frightened Rabbit. After being in many groups and writing a majority of the material, teaching bandmates new techniques and music theory became apart of the process. One thing I have learned over the years is patience because of the experiences I have been through. If you choose me to be your teacher, you won't ever have to feel self-conscious. I want to make sure my students can believe in themselves and will never have to worry if they are wasting their time or "not good enough" to try their hand at playing music. Everybody is capable of being musical. It just takes time, effort, and most of all, patience. When there was downtime between recording albums and playing live, I would and still spend much time learning other artists songs. I feel like this is one of the most important things you can do as an learning musician in order to improve your skills and sense of listening. So, if there is certain material my students would want to learn, I will do my best to teach them in the most legitimate way possible. I play a wide range of styles from country rhythms and solos, to classic blues, and even rock music. If there is something new thrown my way, I never turn down a challenge. I am also a recording artist. So I can provide my students recordings of the progress they make. Recording the lessons is a good way to let the students judge what they can improve on and what they are excelling at. Lastly, one of my biggest skills is being friendly! I can be honest but will try my hardest to never make you feel stupid or that you can't play. I get a lot of joy out of teaching my friends about music.
