Sue Anne offers classical structural work on the elements of the voice combined with a holistic approach to the individual needs of each student. The goal is a natural unaffected sound for effortless vocal communication in any singing arena. Ms. Gershenzon. has 35 years of experience in Broadway and Opera, and can help you with any aspect of vocal performance and technical mastery. Singers who are committed to vocal development on any and all levels are welcome.
There is nothing more exhilarating than beautiful sound soaring fully and freely out of your body. This achievement is a process!
I try to guide each student to the essence of his or her unique sound, and that is accessed through a clear and open instrument. This requires fundamental work on the elements of the voice. There are many technical steps to this process.
Freeing the head and neck of constriction
Balancing and integrating the head and chest registers
Vowel purification
Addressing Resonance and the 6 areas of relaxation
Coordination of and strengthening of the breathing body
Body awareness and relaxation
Mind Body Spirit integration
Each individual has unique challenges that can block the voice on many levels. My approach is a holistic one. When your instrument is in a healthy balance you can sing in any forum.
The goal is effortless voice

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons are taught very close to Grand Central Station convenient for commuters from Connecticut or Westchester. Not to worry, there is no judgement in my studio, in fact, that is my one rule! The studio is a safe place to take risks and explore with our voices. We will work on the proper breathing for power and control, smoothly singing from the highest to the lowest notes in your range, and extending beyond what you never dreamed possible, how all the muscles in your body affect the sound that comes out of you and how to gently optimize your sound, and how you affect your sound by your thoughts feelings and emotions. You are your instrument! In three months you will feel you have a voice you never dreamed you could have.
*** Specialties ***
I have over 20 years of professional experience and training with masters. Eileen Farrell, who was one of the greatest voices of the 20th century. Conrad L. Osborne, Opera Critic for world renown musical publications such as Opera News and High Fidelity.
Somatic Voicework The LoVetri Method takes registration understanding to another level and combined with resonance work to take the chest voice up into the head voice fo a healthy Broadway sound.
The McClosky Technique offers the anatomical understanding and affect of the extrinsic muscles of the face, jaw, throat, neck, tongue and alignment, and how these elements affect the smooth functioning inside the larynx.
I incorporate these styles into my own method of approaching the voice by equally addressing Breathing/Registration/Resonance/ Relaxation, and Mind/Body/Emotion.
I am a certified Energy Healer with over 10 years of study and practice in this area. I am very aware of the energetic aspects of an individual, and utilize that knowledge to enhance the learning process.
