I am an enthusiastic and energetic college student who is majoring in music and loves working with children. I have had quite a bit of prior teaching experience. I have taught violin lessons for the past seven years. Along with violin, I can teach beginning piano, recorder, viola, cello, and group ensemble classes of multiple age and ability levels. I have been the volunteer music teacher assistant at the Upper Valley Waldorf School in Quechee, VT, a job that included conducting and supervising the middle school orchestral and ensembles, and have initiated, organized, directed, and been the lead teacher at the Upper Valley Waldorf School summer music camp program for the past five years. I have primarily worked with the Suzuki and Essential Elements method book series', though I am comfortable working with most teaching methods and often pull other music in to supplement what my students are learning. I tailor my lessons to meet my students' personal needs and interests. Along with instrumental technique, I incorporate basic theory concepts such as note reading, rhythm, and ear training into my lessons, so that all my students have a working knowledge of these concepts.
I am more than happy to expand on this description and answer any questions you may have, and I look forward to working with your children!
