She was also a two-times United States Open Music Competition gold medalist in concerto and showcase solo categories, and a three-times alternate winner in the Music Teachers' Association of California Solo and Concerto Competitions. Sophia began her piano studies at the age of five with Anna Semyanovsky. She attended Northwestern University and studied piano with Sylvia Wang, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance as well as a minor in Economics in June 2020. Through the study of technique, sight reading, and theory, students will learn how to approach the music and how to play effectively. I aim to promote enjoyment in music as well as self-expression, while helping each student to achieve their highest musical potential. Students are expected to have lessons once a week. Beginner (1-2 years): 30-minute lesson Elementary (3-4 years): 45-minute lesson Intermediate/Advanced (5+ years): 60-minute lesson Students must have a full-size (88 weighted keys) digital or acoustic piano for regular practice. I will let you know which music books or scores you need to get. Lessons will be taught via Zoom.
