A fun and personalized approach to singing, backed by years of experience and a touch of quirkiness.

As a music teacher with over 20 years of experience, students can expect a personalized and fun approach to help to develop their skills and achieve their personal musical goals. I work closely with students to create customized lessons that meet their unique needs, whether they're looking to improve their technique, expand their repertoire, or prepare for a performance. I provide a supportive and nurturing environment where students can feel comfortable exploring their musical interests and asking questions. Lessons include elements of music theory and history to deepen understanding and appreciation no matter what they are learning. By the end of each lesson, students will have gained new insights and skills that can be applied to their music making on their own. Singing lessons include warm ups, vocal technique and appropriate repertoire (songs in various styles) to each individual students likes and needs.

Sonya is a top notch teacher and one of the best humans I’ve had the pleasure of learning from! She is so knowledgeable when it comes to music, especially singing, but is equally at home teaching theory and composition. I can’t wait to take another lesson with her!
