Hi! My name is Simon and I'm a British multi read player with 20+ years experience playing in London's West End Musicals and orchestras. I also have an extensive list of credits as Artistic Director for various youth theatre companies in the UK, Europe and the States. I studied in London at Trinity College of Music and was lucky enough to get my break early playing in CATS at the New London Theatre. After that I moved on to playing in Chicago, Beauty and the Beast, Merrily We Roll Along, and My Fair Lady. I have been a regular resident in the West End ever since, with my most recent credit playing in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. I teach Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute and Bassoon from beginners up to a professional level. I have also had extensive experience vocal coaching for musical theatre and audition preparation classes.
I have recently married a San Jose resident, hence my move to the States!!
I work every summer for Beauville Arts as Artistic Director for their musical theatre summer school. I am in charge of producing their shows. Directing the students and acting as musical director as well as collaborating with the production team regarding set, lighting, cotumes etc.+ Read More

It was only the first lesson but I can tell we'll be working with Simon for many many more. It was a positive experience and my son was very pleased. He looks forward to his next lesson and that's a great sign.
Liza loved the lesson, esp. how Mr. Holland explained the basics and corrected some of the notes that she was playing wrong all this while. Mr. Holland is very accommodative and easy-to-interact with.
I'd been with Simon for five lessons. Very patient and attentive. Ready to work at my own pace.
My son loves learning from Simon and looks forward to his weekly lesson.
Simon is one of the best teachers I've had out of quite a few. While clearly expert at his instrument, he deeply understands the beginner's perspective. He always seems to know when to let a certain mistake slide to a future lesson or push you to fix it. Once he's decided that you need to fix it, he can offer multiple different approaches to correcting the problem. Finally, he's just a lot of fun to be around!+ Read More
We have been having such a delightful time learning clarinet for the first time! My husband and I love to learn new skills together as a date each week. Simon has such a pleasant teaching style! He points out the mistakes that you're making that are important at your given level and lets the right things slide. Every lesson we've learned more and not felt overwhelmed. He's a master teacher. While he's been great with adults, If I ever convince my son to pick up one of Simon's instruments, I bet Simon is the guy that could get my grumbly kid enthused. He's definitely a find! Five stars!+ Read More
