Indigo has been working in the performing arts since she was biting ankles, first as a dancer and vocalist, and later as a guitarist. She's composed music for and/or sung dozens of international television commercials, spots on Law and Order and songs in Films premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, and as a lead guitarist and vocalist, toured the US, Canada, Europe and Iceland, extensively, performing in hundreds of theaters and rock clubs around the world, including-- Madison Square Garden, BAM, The Beacon Theater, Music Hall Of Williamsburg, The Bowery Ballroom, Club Nokia (LA), The Santa Barbara Bowl, The Chicago Theater, Baby's All Right, The Mercury Lounge, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass (SF), Pickathon (Portland)
As a teacher, Indigo's method has, at it's core, a commitment to the idea of teaching a man to fish rather than giving him a fish, and every student, regardless of age or experience will be taught to understand, first and foremost, how music works, so that he or she comes away, not only with the skills to play the material covered in the lessons, but, eventually, the ability to teach themselves any other material they're interested in.
With an emphasis on ear training, her natural approach to learning theory, makes even the most wary or challenged student understand with ease, and find pleasure in the process of learning. Rote memorization is eliminated and replaced by a deep understanding, which grows naturally, while technique improves alongside it. Students quickly find themselves able to play, sing and understand things they'd previously only dreamed of.
These building blocks of music are the same regardless of the style of music you're interested in, but technique will be tailored to your specific interests, and from the start, a portion of each lesson will be devoted to learning the material of your choice.
Indigo also specializes in coaching songwriters, and can, in a gentle and non-invasive way, help to guide you through the process of both mastering craft, and establishing your own individual voice as a writer.

Indigo is simply the best at simplifying music theory into bite size pieces that are easy to grasp. She is a very gifted teacher.
Best instructor I have ever had!
Indigo has a teaching style like no other I have encountered. For a while I've felt stuck & at a plateau with my playing until I started lessons with her. She works to connect your ear & body equally to the guitar, with a goal to be able to express yourself with the instrument as if it were a part of you. The lessons have been truly refreshing, and the work she assigns is stuff I could continue to learn more from for years. I am very excited to see where studying with this teacher will take me in the long run.+ Read More
Although my pursuit is songwriting, Indigo quickly recognized that more guitar background will help me - so we started there. I'm very encouraged with Indigo's approach, and I'm looking forward to continuing these lessons!
Everything Inwas hoping for and more...It feels great to have high expectations surpassed
She was great with our six-year-old son
Spending time with Indigo has made me a better guitarist. She has clearly explained and illustrated interesting and challenging concepts while encouraging my development as a musician. Overall, lessons with Indigo have been a great experience.
Indigo made me feel comfortable right from the first lesson. She is very knowledgeable and I learn and explore something new during every lesson. I would recommend her to anybody looking to improve their voice.
It's hard to imagine a better guitar instructor than Indigo.
As an aspiring singer-songwriter, I came to Indigo a few months ago pleading that she teach me the ins and outs of the instrument. I tasked her with this: save me from joining the masses of capo-dependent hopefuls.
Not only does she customize lessons with my goals in mind (ear training, technique, theory), but she breaks down the 'intimidating' concepts in a sneaky way. One day, while practicing, I started to realize her genius! No longer is the guitar a complete mystery to me.
She is easy-going, patient and encouraging.
I look forward to my lessons with Indigo every week. I think of her as a mentor and hope to work with her for a long time.
Needless to say, I highly recommend!! I imagine with her brilliant skills and experience Indigo would make a wonderful teacher for just about anyone!
Indigo was an amazing instructor. I met her at her studio and she was always punctual.
I am a complete beginner to singing and she was very respectful and understanding of this. I typically would make a lot of self deprecating jokes because of how nervous I was, but she would reassure me and continue to train me.
I had to stop taking lessons because I moved away but I would absolutely recommend her to anyone.
I was looking for a teacher that was able to teach (a lot) of the gaps I have in my playing. I learned to play other people songs and had cover bands, but never really thought about what I was doing.
Indigo approach to the guitar is exactly what I was looking for: A harmony / melody first approach that is guiding me through theory in a simple, natural way.
I don't need to memorize scale shapes, chords shapes. In a couple of weeks I've learned to understand them and I we're starting to dive deeper.
Overall Indigo is clearly knowledgeable, extremely patient and is able to communicate complex subjects in a simple way. I feel that I am evolving a lot each week and this is even more than I was looking for.
I highly recommend Indigo if you're looking to learn to play the guitar or understand it like I did!
Indigo is a great teacher. She provides a comfortable and supportive learning environment (which is especially important when learning to sing!) and manages to clearly articulate a bunch of concepts and sensations that would be difficult, if not impossible, to discover on your own. I'd highly recommend her!+ Read More
Indigo is great. She has tailored my lessons around the specific areas of the guitar that I'm looking to work on (ranging from theory to improvisation), and as a result I'm developing a fuller understanding of the instrument from the inside out (and outside in, in terms of song work). Patient, flexible, and very chill, too, it goes without saying. Very much recommend!+ Read More
Indigo is great1 I learned a lot and can't wait for my next lesson!
Indigo is a brilliant no nonsense teacher who taught me a nugget of theory that has completely changed my understanding of the guitar and made me feel like I could actually understand the guitar rather than just memorizing chords and promptly forgetting them!+ Read More

Indigo is a great teacher. She is deeply knowledgeable! I highly reccomend lessons with her.
Indigo is very well-rounded as a teacher. She has a great way with our pre-teen daughter. She is clearly a very well- trained musician and player. She can adjust to the level and interest of the student, using many different genres as well as theory. She covers guitar, voice and theory. Wonderful teacher.+ Read More
Indigo was able to quickly identify what I needed to work on and ultimately made the lesson very effective. Super grateful for this experience.
Indigo's the best! She's very perceptive to any problems going on in your voice and breaks it down so they're no longer issues. She's also very understanding to any scheduling changes and is so so easy to work with :)
I wrote on the wall years ago that I want to be, "a working, living, joy," and know it is important to be around someone who is working, practicing, and living the subject matter of which you desire. For one can read, watch, visualize and theorize for a long time...and so much more. But being around someone is different.
Indigo has helped me across the board, directly and indirectly. Directly, in that she has shown me some fundamentals "I need" to work on in order to achieve and generate the ideas within the self. Indirectly, in so much that a student can see her familiarity with her instrument (instrument being guitar and self) and a more proper persona to take on in order to facilitate being musical.
Furthermore, I have been to some of her shows since taking lessons, and seen her play with different bands (as a leader) in a very short amount of time. Indigo is working, writing, practicing, breathing, and ultimately living that joy right in front of my face. And she shares it with a strong diligence and patience. I can go on and on...But I'm Ticking Like a Time Bomb! Louie
Indigo is amazing! Extremely supportive, talented, and warm. As a super beginner, I noticed a dramatic change in just 5 lessons. She intuitively knows just what to do to open your voice and guide you. I felt immediately comfortable with her and she's very professional. She's a magic one! Couldn't recommend more highly.+ Read More
Indigo is great. I'm a lead singer and lyricist for a band and in my late twenties. Besides working with musicians for only 6 years, I have never had any kind of training. I came to Indigo as a total beginner on the guitar and asked to be taught skills that would aid in my songwriting and communication with my bandmates. And I can't believe how easy she has made it.
Her style of teaching is very comfortable, patient, and interweaves playing technique with theory and ear training seamlessly. She is the kind of teacher that really takes the student's goals into consideration when designing a lesson. She is also very responsive when I have questions or need to reschedule. In fact before I even started lessons, she answered questions about the guitar I was purchasing, and how long of a lesson I needed within a few hours.
If you think it's too late to learn, music theory is too complex, your hands are too small to play, or any of the other reasons I put off lessons for so long, give Indigo a shot.
I think my friends are tired of hearing me talk about how much I love my guitar lessons with Indigo. She is patient and kind and has a deep knowledge of the guitar and of music in general. I always come away from our lessons feeling like I have moved forward in my learning and inspired to practice. I am a beginner in my mid thirties but I think Indigo would be a great teacher for all ages and skill levels. If you are thinking about taking guitar lessons your teacher should be Indigo, I can't recommend her more!+ Read More

I love my guitar lessons with Indigo! She is an amazing teacher and makes you feel very comfortable by offering a warm and supportive environment in which to learn. Indigo has given me a completely new perspective on guitar playing. I started learning music theory and ear training from her and she even has me singing, something I never believed I would try. She is a very patient and supportive teacher. Her encouragement and her excitement about my growth as a musician are extremely motivating and I find myself increasingly passionate about learning music theory and look forward to my guitar lessons. I highly recommend her.+ Read More

I have been lessons for a little over a month and have significantly improved. I'm an adult student working 80-90 hrs a week, so with that in mind, the lesson load is doable and relaxed, but there is plenty of material each week to see the improvement in your skills. She also is approaching the lessons based on what I want to learn, not what a "by the letter" teacher thinks you should know. The studio location is not only chill but convient, literally around the corner. Highly recommend Indigo for anyone picking up a guitar.
