Music Theory is a field of study which enables performers and composers to better understand the "nuts and bolts" of their craft. It can be exciting, and I intend to make it so by applying the concepts we discuss to real musical examples in all genres.
If you do not live nearby, we can learn together through online chat via FaceTime, Skype, or Google Hangout. I have openings during early daytime CST, which means if you're in the UK or Europe and you're an English speaker, I would be happy to schedule you.

So far so good. Very patient as mistakes after mistake was made. Corrected quite a few mistakes I was making so that my habits would be good habits from the start. Let me talk to myself as I messed up and complimented me when I was on the right track.

Great lesson! Thanks!

complete novice; adult student. First lesson very relaxed. Excellent blend through-out lesson of questions and information my goals and background as well as instructor's goals for me and his background. First "technical" part of lesson was manageable and care taken by Lyle to make sure I understood what was being presented. I left the first lesson feeling this would be a good fit between instructor and student

I am still not real comfortable with the picks and how I am holding the neck. Next time!

Did a fine job discerning what our starting point should be. Easy-going and comfortable to work with.

Great first lesson. I like goal setting and getting email about lesson.

Evie came back very proud of what she learned in her first lesson & excited for more.

I am thoroughly enjoying my piano lessons so far! Lyle is very accommodating, fun, and great teacher! I am looking forward to many more lessons. Thanks Lyle!

When the lesson started we got right to the point and decided the best direction to take with the limited experience I have. I have goals for the next lesson and something to work with and someone to help me along the way.

I am a complete novice - my first ever guitar lesson. This lesson started from holding the guitar, pick, fingers and finger movement, and form. I started the book and I learned lots. Lyle was very efficient and professional.

Lyle is very knowledgeable and seems to have a good method of teaching piano. My son is enjoying it very much.

Awesome teacher! only first time and I already know he is very nice and patient!

He is been really good, explains very clearly. He can understand me very well. Good to have him as my teacher. These are words told by my daughter.

I know nearly nothing about music, but just love to try. Lyle is patient, and able to be flexible if I have not been able to practice (as much as I should!)

Lyle provided a great first experience in my bass guitar lessons. He is very knowledgeable and created a custom lesson plan to what I am looking for.

Excellent with my 9 year old son!

Lyle has been a great instructor so far. He has taught me how to think about and practice guitar better. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge that he shares in an easy-going way. I feel better prepared and confidant that I can reach my desired skill level, rather than it seeming like a fantasy. Highly recommended.

Good combination of book learnin' and improvisational instruction.

Lyle is awesome! Lessons are fun and helpful, he focuses on helping you meet your musical goals. I am an adult absolute novice, never played an instrument before, and I feel really good about my progress. If a year ago someone would have asked me "will you ever play an instrument?" I would have said absolutely no and that I didn't think I was even capable of learning an instrument, I considered myself to be very non-musical; but not anymore. 1 star off because we've had a lot of cancellations and reschedules but that's partially my fault as well since our lessons are on Friday nights and he warned me he often plays gigs or has to travel to gigs on that night.
Very Good Teacher
Very cool and has immense patience for my 6 year old son. The right guitar teacher for my son who has questions nonstop.
Patient and willing to work with my son.
Lyle has been doing a wonderful job with my son. My son tends to lose focus a lot, but Lyle has never been cross or sharp with him. We are very pleased with the progress we are making.
for Stella
she responds well to Lyle. We have worked flexibly with our schedules and she is getting along ok. She could practice more...but she likes what and how she has learned so far...
Excelent teacher; totally happy!
He's very knowledgable!!!His teaching is wonderful!!He cares for the student's learning and goals!!!
