Originally from North Pole Alaska, Scott M. has been playing the tuba since the age of nine. While in high school Scott was in virtually every brass ensemble at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. In 2006 Scott enrolled at the Peabody Conservatory of Music on a merit scholarship where he studied with Toby Hanks and Baltimore Symphony’s David Fedderly, eventually earning both his Bachelors and Masters in Music Performance. While at Peabody Mr. M. performed extensively with the Peabody Symphony, the Peabody Wind Ensemble, and several brass choirs. In addition to these Scott performed with brass quintets every year while he was at Peabody and received the Grace Clagett Ranney Prize in chamber music on completion of his Master’s degree. Scott is currently performing in the Baltimore area with a variety of groups including Patriot Brass, the Occasional Symphony, and Brassivity.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide a stand, music, valve oil, metronome, and tuner. I expect my students to have an instrument and mouthpiece.

First I teach how to breath and produce a good sound, secondly I teach the student notes and fingerings, and lastly I teach the player how to achieve musical expression. I am versed in almost all genres; classical, pop, jazz
