Learn violin from an experienced professional violinist
My studio is open to all prospective violin or composition students, regardless of age, race, skill level, disability or different ability, or gender identity. Special accommodations and considerations can be made as needed. Music is sacred and should be accessible to everyone. Your lesson with me is a safe place to be yourself and express yourself through music. For parents with child beginners First: Please do not buy your child's instrument without consulting me first! We will have to measure them to ensure they get the correct size instrument. Thank you for supporting your child's music! Your child is now on their way to becoming an expressive and gifted musician. Parents are encouraged to be present in the lesson, and nearby during practice, as often as possible. I do understand that you are very busy, but just like how a child can't be expected to have a job, they can't be expected to practice effectively on their own.. Supervision of practice will usually only involve reminding your child of topics covered in the lesson. Occasionally you may be asked to participate more directly, but this happens rarely. Finally, practicing more often is better than practicing for longer. Your child should practice most days. If you must shorten each practice session to make sure they don't feel burnt out, do so. For adult beginners It is never too late! I was an adult beginner myself. Though we face certain specific challenges, becoming highly proficient is still very possible. Through regular practice and lessons, you will make music that you will be proud to share with friends and loved ones. Contact me before you purchase your instrument. There are many ways to get burned or scammed when searching for your first violin. After it arrives, our trial lesson will mostly focus on setting up the instrument and fitting it to your body type.
About Sarah P.

Sarah is an experienced violinist, composer, and teacher based in Asheville, North Carolina. After discovering her passion for writing and playing music through a high school music theory course, she went on to study both violin and composition at Georgia State University. There she studied violin with Tania Maxwell-Clements, and composition with Dr. Robert Scott Thompson before graduating in 2020. As a composer, she combines minimalist textures and ideas with neoromantic thematic material to create an impressionistic and programmatic style. As a teacher, Sarah maintains a studio of both adults and children at all levels of proficiency. Sarah's core principles of teaching are parental involvement, aural skills, and critical listening and interpretation. Additionally, Sarah enjoys performing and volunteering for non-profit and community orchestras. She has performed with the Atlanta Philharmonic Orchestra, the Atlanta Musicians Orchestra, and the Georgia State University Symphony Orchestra.

Sarah is very flexible with scheduling and communication! She is positive and complimentary during the lesson and picks 1-2 focus points to work on during and after the lesson. I can see the improvement from the start of lessons to now!
