Hello! My name is Sarah and I am a recent graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music, where I received both my MM as well as my BM degrees in violin performance. I've studied with with many world renowned musicians and am a very active international performer, performing from CA and CO to London and Cuba. I am a native of California, born and raised in Los Angeles and have been surrounded by musicians my whole life. With both my parents and my brother playing the cello, I have always found passion and love for music and the community built by musicians. I started playing piano at a young age and after a few years transferred to violin which I then dedicated myself to and grew into my career. Lessons are whatever you need them to be, but in general I will focus on using scales, etudes and solo repertoire to: solidify technique, improve ear training, and expand your musical portfolio. I believe that music can be learned and loved by everyone from young children to adults and by people from all walks of life. The things we learn through communicating through music can be used in our day to day lives as well and as a teacher, I strive to adapt each lesson uniquely to each student and patiently solve any problem that comes our way together. Through teaching, I always strive to convey this universal passion in every student while simultaneously providing the appropriate solid foundation that they can take with them out into the world.
About Sarah B.

As a professional violinist I have had the privilege to study and work with countless incredible musicians, including the Cavani Quartet, Peter Salaff, Keith Robinson, the Dover Quartet, and the Juilliard Quartet. An avid orchestral player as well as chamber player, I have also played with orchestras such as the Erie Philharmonic, Canton Symphony, the Cleveland Opera Theatre, and the inaugural Cuban American Youth Orchestra. Lessons are typically an hour long, but can be 45 min. for those whose schedules are tight or they are on a budget. 30 min. lessons are reserved for children. Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions, concerns or anything I can help with! I do not have my full schedule availability up online so if you wish to schedule a lesson time with me please reach out first and we can work around both of our schedules together. Thank you!

I've been taking lessons with Sarah for a few months now and am so pleased - I played violin as a youngster but hadn't played meaningfully in nearly 20 years. Sarah was great at immediately assessing my level and tailoring our lessons to me. She is extremely patient, challenges me to an appropriate level, and does a great job of incorporating just the right about of theory to make my lessons meaningful yet fun and engaging. I highly recommend Sarah and am so grateful I found her!

Sarah really helped me with my basic techniques! I've been trying to learn how to play violin by myself over the pandemic and finding online lessons with her was the ANSWER. She's incredibly kind and patient and explains posture and walks me through scales and etudes to strengthen my basics. Sarah also has a broad understanding of repertoire, which I hope to also be able to play soon!

Sarah is a great teacher! Her combined use of technical and musical ideas has increased my appreciation for music and has made me better at the violin!
