Hello! I am currently in my first year of my Masters at NYU where I am studying flute performance, where I am studying under Keith Underwood and Soo-Kyung Park. I am also an Adjunct Instructor at NYU, where I teach undergraduate NYU students private flute lessons. I recently graduated from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music this past May, where I received a Bachelors Degree in Music Performance with a minor in art history. While at IU, I studied under Kathryn Lukas and participated in various ensembles and concerts, focusing mainly on chamber music.

I am originally from Atlanta, Georgia, where I studied under Christina Smith, the principal flutist of the Atlanta Symphony, and I also participated in a numerous amount of masterclasses and performances with many different flutists. I have been playing the flute for 16 years, and I have been playing the piano for 18 years. I also play the piccolo, alto flute, bass flute, clarinet, and the guitar.

I have been teaching the flute for over 8 years. I have taught students of all ages and levels. I also have worked with high school students in assisting with flute sectionals through the band program.

I am experienced with a large variety of styles, and I am open to exploring different types of music.

My goal is to give students the ability and resources to grow to become an overall musician. I work hard to find out how different students learn, and I adjust my teaching style to fit different learning needs. I aim to help students find a passion in playing music, so I try an find out what interests a student and work to incorporate that into flute playing. I am very encouraging and enthusiastic in my teaching.

Please contact me with any questions :) Also feel free to check out more about me at my website

New York Flute Club
Mar 2017

Founded in 1920 by eminent flutist Georges Barrère, composer Lamar Stringfield, and a group of their associates, The New York Flute Club is the oldest such organization in the United States.

Barrère's idea in starting the Club was to provide a common meeting ground for the professional, student, and amateur; a place where less experienced players could hear new and unusual music for the flute as well as the classic repertory played by fine artists; a place where all might find performance opportunities helpful to the development of their own talents.

I was very skeptical at first about doing online lessons, but I'm very pleased with how the lesson went. Sarah really took the time to listen, and she is very patient. She helped me so much even though I am a beginner, and she showed me how to get better on my own as well.

Sarah helped me so much in getting a good chair in my high school band audition. I was worried about not knowing all the notes in the scales but she told me how to practice them and I made a high chair in the band I wanted to be in. Thank u Sarah!!!!
