Music became my life when I found a dusty guitar in the storage room at age 10. I owe a lot of really cool experiences to the guitar and so many of them center around learning. Teaching is fun and rewarding, but it is also my way of thanking the great teachers I've had.

*** Lesson Details ***
The best lessons I've ever had were lessons in which I walked away saying "Man, I never KNEW that!" and it's my goal for you have that experience, too. Whether its how to play that chord or write a melody, how to get the best sound out of those stomp boxes, or when genres like shoegazer and post-rock were invented and what they sound like... there's something to be learned in every lesson.
The most important benefit of taking lessons from me is my experience. I started teaching casually as a teenager and have followed every opportunity since. My passion for music has allowed me to teach private lessons (10+ years), middle school guitar class (including a guitar ensemble), and college-level music theory classes. Extensive experience in writing, recording, and performing has only helped that passion to grow. I've developed a method to blend theory with practice every step of the way, and make the journey fun!

He is a wonderful teacher !!!
Parker is great and my 16-year-old son really likes him!
Parker is a great teacher & a really nice guy. I have been working with him for about 18 months, and I have come a very long way in my technical ability as well as my understanding of music theory. He has a very low key, positive approach to our lessons, which makes them relaxing and fun, but at the same time he has the ability to get me out of my "comfort zone" and doing things that are new and challenging, from dabbling in different genres to creating new arrangements of old favorite songs to diving into the theory behind iconic riffs and chord progressions.
He has become a friend and I look forward to all of our online sessions.
Parker is a fantastic teacher. I was EXTREMELY nervous when I went in for my first lesson. However Parker's personality and teaching technique put me right at ease. His experience makes him a very good teacher and the fact he's written a book also helps. If you're looking for a teacher I'd definitely recommend him.+ Read More
Parker is a very thorough and kind teacher. He likes to give you everything you need to become a musician so that you can grow and go as far as you want with guitar playing. He is patient with you (God knows he needs to be with me!) if you are completely new to the genre. Two thumbs up!+ Read More
Parker is a fantastic guitar teacher. He teaches foundational concepts to help understand music theory and provides many different ways to learn. Highly recommended!
Fantastic! Highly recommend!!
He is a very dedicated teacher, I love my interactions with him. From Hubert
Had my first lesson with Parker today.
Great guy - you can tell he's been teaching for a long time and really loves to share his knowledge.
I'm excited to see where these lessons take me!
So far so good. He seems very patient and down to earth. I would recommend him to anyone wanting to learn guitar
Excellent method of explaining beginning to advanced fundamentals that is necessary in understanding music and playing the guitar. Looking forward to my next lesson!
My lessons with Parker have been outstanding!! He is the perfect instructor for me, and I am very happy to have found him: extremely professional and knowledgeable, kind, patient, and encouraging. I especially enjoy his positive attitude and fun sense of humor, and his lessons are challenging me at just the right pace. Plus, I especially appreciate the opportunity to take lessons online, since I live on an island, and do not have access to in-person lessons. Every week with Parker is another Five Star experience!!+ Read More
Very patient and I formative.
Parker was very helpful!
Awesome teacher. Very patient, knowledgeable and fun to work with. Obviously enjoys his job and working with students, even the ones as difficult as myself. :)
In the few short months I have been with Parker, I have first and foremost have learned patience- Something a self taught guitarist does not have.
He sets a solid foundation, very crucial to making progress, enabling me to take simple practice pieces to showmanship quality.
He also teaches the student how to better teach ourselves with an intuitiveness to direct them to where they need to go to achieve their goals.
I've never been more wholly dedicated to my practices, nor have seen such advancement in my playing, for which I am truly grateful!
Parker is the best. He's a great teacher and has endless knowledge on music theory, technique and everything else. Highly recommended!
I have only had three lessons so far, but Parker has been very easy to work with. I am sure that I present a challenge as far as structuring a lesson program. I am an older student (late 60's), I had some formal music training learning to play the accordion when I was young, but I am entirely self taught on guitar. I played guitar for several years when I was in my late teens, & picked it up again about 8 or nine months ago.
Consequently, I am all over the map in terms of my capabilities. Advanced beginner or intermediate in some technical areas, but with major gaps in my understanding of both theory and technique, Parker has done a nice job initially of not spending too much time on things I already know, but still covering enough of the basics with me to identify gaps in my abilities that need to be strengthened. I have enjoyed my sessions, and the pace has been about right so far.
Extremely knowledgeable, and best of all: he knows good tricks to teach you the content. He's done this for years and will serve you well. He can occasionally get sidetracked/off-topic, but it serves to provide insight into other aspects of the lesson and doesn't detract from the content. Overall, I'm very happy continuing lessons with him! :)+ Read More
Enjoying my lessons and teaching style a lot. Parker has given me a new way to look at the guitar.
Parker is terrific music mentor
I have been in formal music education since I was four (I am 42 now). In all that time, and across four different instruments, I have never had a better instructor. My knowledge of music as an art form, composition and technique improved 20 fold in the two and half years I worked with Parker. I couldn't recommend someone more strongly.
Great guitar teacher
Parker is an excellent teacher for my young children. We are lucky that we found him.
I played bass guitar in a band when I was in my twenties. I'm fifty five now and decided to pick up the acoustic guitar and knew I'd be fooling myself if I tried to do it on my own. Found Parker on "Take Lessons" and I'm sure glad I did. He is more than willing to take his time with an old fogy like me and the amazing part about it is I'm actually learning more about music than I thought I ever would. Moved on past the basics in no time and now working on jazz chord structure, diminished chord voicing and have actually put together songs of my own. Looking forward to my next lesson every time I leave the last. I'm considering extending my lessons to full hour sessions from the half hour lessons I take every two weeks.
He truly makes guitar addicting.
Kudos for a great teacher
Parker is a great teacher and he makes the lessons fun for my son. I didn't think my son would take to the instrument at first, but Parker gave him the incentive and interest to carry on and really enjoy it. Parker is able to adjust his lessons to my son's learning ability. He has done extremely well since he started and truly enjoys playing. Kudos for Parker!
Great instructor with incredible depth of music knowledge.
I took lessons with Parker for a little over a year and was very impressed. In that year I went from a player that could play a few power chords to someone that understood why chords are shaped the way they are, how to solo over the chords and a wealth of other guitar tricks that took my knowledge and enjoyment of playing to a whole new level. As well as being an incredibly knowledgeable musician Parker is just an easy going, great guy who's easy to get along with and has a knack for knowing what interests you as a guitar player and how to push you when needed.
Overall I would highly recommend Parker as a guitar instructor especially for someone who is not just looking to play a tab they found on the internet but to really get to know the guitar as an instrument and get the full enjoyment out of it thru the theory and expertise he provides.
Exactly what I had in mind!
Parker is an excellent teacher and is very open when it comes to scheduling. Each lesson I walk away with having learned something new that I can take and apply to my playing.
My son, Jack, has been seeing Parker for a few years now, and my son has become not only a fantastic guitar player, but a real lover of music. Jack was a complete beginner, but now plays like a pro. He is amazing! Parker inspires Jack to work hard, but also have fun playing. Jack looks forward to seeing Parker every week, and can't wait to show us what he's learned. Guitar has opened up a whole new world to my son, and given him focus as well as inspired his creativity. Parker is not just Jack's teacher, but has become his friend, and that makes Jack want to work even harder. I can't imagine a time when Jack does not take lessons with Parker. I really cannot say enough about Parker, and impact he has on my son's life. Jack isn't just learning guitar, but a new way to think. It has been life changing.
I've been taking guitar with Parker since I was fourteen or fifteen, I am now eighteen, and I can honestly say he is an amazing teacher. Every time I see him I learn something new, whether it be big or small. With his help I truly believe I am ready to go to college and further pursue guitar as a hobby on my own.
If you want to learn guitar, Parker is the BEST!! Very patient, has a great way explaining things so you understand them. He will help you at your pace, which is great for all skill levels. I am really glad I have Parker as my guitar instructor.
In the past two years that I've taken lessons from Parker I have continually been impressed with just how talented he is as an instructor. Beyond being a great musician, he has created a progressive teaching plan that can move a beginner (like myself) through the basics and all the way to advanced guitar playing and even song writing. Parker is clear at communicating when, where, and how I can make changes to get things right and to get more enjoyment from playing. He is patient, yet knows how to motivate. Plus he has a never-ending list of suggestions on new theories, techniques, or styles that I could delve into to keep my learning experience going.
I would recommend anyone who wants to learn guitar to Take Lessons with Parker!
Never thought I'd learn so much so fast!
Parker is a very professional, talented instructor. He is always working to improve his methods and course materials (which, by the way, are already great!). One of my favorite things is that he has a clear curriculum that he has developed over the past several years, and I can always trust that what he is teaching me will have a huge impact on my success, even if I don't know the reason yet.
Parker is also an active musician in the Denver area, inviting students to his performances - from musicals that he is playing in or gigs he plays with his band. He's even organized events for students to attend (on his own time) where we can get together and "jam".
Ode to Joy
Has taught my teen son for 15+ months. Very patient, engaged and focused teacher. Has a deep knowledge of the instrument and music, and can play just about anything. You may not love the chromatic scale or understand it... but you will soon appreciate it. Uses a step by step system, and tailors lessons to student's needs. Really pushes students to learn and develop confidence. Excellent in getting kids to read and hear notes. Best part is how he observes and watches everything from fingering to note reading and corrects things on the spot without missing a beat.
Mr. Parker is a great teacher, easy to talk to, very relaxed and lessons are always enjoyable. Chris hopes to take weekly lessons if he can fit in his and our schedule!
Parker is definitely a very versitale instructor. He manages to translate his obvious skill and talent into customized lessons for his students. The pace of each lesson is comfortable for me and he has a very effective approach to teaching technique as well as music theory. It's clear that this man loves the guitar and enjoys seeing others succeed at learning what could be a difficult instrument to understand. I highly recomend him
Awesome with Kids
My 6 year old son has been working with Parker for about two months and is making great progress, learning playing techniques and being introduced to the chromatic scale. Parker is great at teaching guitar to young kids, very patient and persistent. Would highly recommend him to other parents considering private lessons for their kids.
Parker is a wonderful instructor! He is very patient with my 6 year old and I like his teaching techniques!! He is very kind and very helpful and encouraging!!
Better than I could have hoped
I am an older guy with some physical issues taking my first guitar lessons. I present what I assume is an above-average challenge for Parker. He has so far amazed and delighted me. Despite his formidable skills and knowledge, there is not a whiff of arrogance about him. He is patient, thoughtful, easygoing, and has a sense of humor. The hour-long sessions combine music theory and application, guitar demonstration and practice. This, to my mind, is a near perfect approach to teaching and learning. It likely to could be adapted to any proficiency level. I am eager to attend each session.
Parker has been an amazing teacher for me! He teaches you the theory behind the music you are reading rather than just showing you how to use guitar tabs. He selects practice songs that are fun to learn. He is a natural teacher and I am so grateful I found him to be my teacher. This has been a wonderful experience for me. I can't say enough good things about Parker and his skill on the guitar and his ability to teach others.+ Read More
Parker is working with me and my 9 year old son at the same time. He is great at provding direction that is relevant to both of us. I have had almost 20 years of music lessons starting as a kid and Parker is by far the best instructor.Parker is great with my 9 year old son. Equally, he has been a great teacher for me (38 years old).
Parker is an amazing and clear instructor. I really feel as if I am learning new things each week.
Guitar made easy
Great teacher. His teaching style is really easy to understand and the classes are fun. I highly recommend this teacher for learning how to play guitar.
Mellow, knowledgable, talented and effective.
If you want an easy going instructor who knows how to effectively relate to children, adults and aspiring muscians of any abilty, Parker is the instructor for you. He guides you step by step, instilling confidence along the way, as you develope and improve your life long desire to grow as a musician, no matter what your current level of playing may be.
A GREAT TEACHER!!
Parker is a great teacher. He takes everything slow enough for me to understand, and when I get really well on something he does not just say well that is enough of that we are moving on, he says well you still have to work on it everyday with also this. Also he is not just teaching me tabs or just the music staff, he is teaching me both, so I will know how to read music and read tabs. Also it is not the songs that he thinks are easy it is the songs I want to learn is what he is teaching me.
I enjoy the method in which he teaches. Its working for me
I like my teacher because he makes learning easy and fun!!!
