Creative and Easy Piano Lessons for Children from a Certified Teacher

I bring more than thirty years of experience in teaching piano to students of every age and level. All lessons are tailored to each student's level and comprehension. I use a comprehensive approach to teaching piano incorporating technique development, learning of theory, piano performance and sight reading. In my lessons, I select and combine classical music from different music periods. I also help students who want to obtain certificates from Associated Board of Royal School of Music (ABRSM) or Trinity College London (TCL) to excel in these examinations.

I have played piano since I was six years old, when my parents enrolled me in my first music classes. I continued my music education while going to elementary, middle, and high school. Ultimately, I graduated with a Master's Degree in Music from Butler University, located in Indianapolis, Indiana Music has been one of my greatest passions since I was a little girl, and teaching it is my favorite way to share my love of music. I teach students of all ages and skill levels from early beginners to experienced piano players who want to bring their performance to a higher level. I emphasize piano technique, musicianship, performance skills and music history. But I also use piano lessons to help my students develop life skills, such as concentration, focus, poise and discipline. I love to see my students to build confidence and self-esteem from playing beautiful music.

Ms. Ruth is a very kind, patient and wonderful teacher who understands the student and teaches in a way that works for that student. Be it an in person lesson or virtual lesson, she makes sure the quality and experience of each lesson remains the same. She is very knowledgeable and helped my child become good at piano.

Ruth has taught my daughter piano for 6 years, and my son for two years. During that time she adapted to their very different learning styles and found ways to keep them both motivated. Her instruction is organized and she has a clear plan for how she progresses through material, from the very introductory first lessons all the way up to much more advanced material. Her lessons blend music theory with the techniques and practice of classical piano. We were amazed with how much our daughter learned about music that went beyond playing the piano-- in fact, the piano lessons gave our daughter a good foundation for learning trumpet and choir at school. Ruth runs an annual piano recital for all of her students. It is amazing to see the broad spectrum of students she teaches. As a parent it was nice to see other students perform and understand where our child started from and "where they were heading". Ruth's advanced students are truly amazing. Ruth is a fabulous piano teacher who is able to instruct kids "where they are" and lead them from beginner to advanced practice. She is truly a caring piano instructor.
