accordion teacher with over thirty years of experience teaching students with many differing goals.
I focus on each individual student in terms of their interests and goals. My primary skill is planning and designing lesson plans to fit each student's hopes, experience, and desires to make music. I teach a wide repertoire of styles and hope to broaden the student's perspective and appreciation of the instrument. I focus on a balance of technique, touch, physical skill, expression, music reading and ear training to support the ultimate vision of solo music and playing with other musicians. Rarely do accordion teachers teach ensemble skills as I do.

About Ross G.
I have played and taught accordion for over 50 years. I play old popular jazz, international folk dance music, old time folk music, hymns, Latin classics, October fest, Irish/Celtic, English country dance and contra styles. I currently play in two bands: an eclectic international group and Contra/English country dance. I evaluate each student and design a course of study specific to the student's experience, capabilities and goals. I do not use a strict method book sequence. There are many options. My goal is to help each student gain their desired level of skill and proficiency while gaining an in-depth appreciation of the instrument's capabilities.
