Hello! I'm Ron-Jay Gage, and I can teach you to play the drums. I have about 22 years of experience; I actively write, record and perform live music in three bands, and I am proficient in many musical styles including Rock and Metal. Whether you want to play in school band, orchestra, marching, jazz, rock, or play with your friends at home, I can show you the tools to becoming really good. Some of my teachers include multi-time world rudimental snare drum champion Rob Carson, Chuck Silverman (The Latin/Funk Connection), Fred Dinkins (It's About Time), Gary Hess (The Encyclopedia of Reading Rhythms), Jeff Bowders (Double Bass Drumming), and dozens of other professionals with decades of experience in all styles of music including rock, funk, r&b, jazz, latin. I have also studied classical percussion at Indiana University with Braham Dembar, Principal Percussionist of the Indianapolis Philharmonic Orchestra, and also have a Music Performance degree from The Musician's Institute. I have decades of experience, I am organized, enthusiastic and well-rounded, and I've been teaching since 2012. My comprehensive lesson plan leads students to an understanding of hand and foot techniques, rudiments, patterns, coordination, 4-limb interdependence, grooving, filling, song structure, odd meters, theory and ear-training all while having fun and applying it how you hear it. My curriculum derives largely from the curricula of the best instructors in the country, and your lessons will be tailored to meet your personal needs.
