Hello and thanks for reading. I grew up in the musically-rich state of Texas, playing everything from ABBA to ZZ Top, and I began teaching in the San Diego area about 3 years ago. My teaching career had been diverse, including teaching Guitar classes at Adult Education and children at the Community Center, and classes to our Navy servicemen and servicewomen.
I am also formalizing my musical training by attending Mesa College as a music major with an emphasis on music theory and joining the jazz ensemble.
My students are mainly busy adults, so I do not use conventional teaching techniques - I focus on getting them to play songs. Most of my Intermediate Students started with me as beginners, picking up a guitar for the first time. With a vocabulary of just a few chords and rhythms, you can play hundreds of songs!
* Note to pet owners - I am allergic to cats, but don't mind making necessary arrangements.
It's official - I am now the guitar instructor at Children's Creative & Performing Arts Academy!! Thanks to my Mesa College Music professors and classmates for all your support!
In addition to private lessons and Adult Ed classes, I also offer community guitar classes to predominantly Hispanic Youth at the Sherman Heights Community Center in the Historic Barrio District of San Diego. I am also available as a clinician to schools and have donated my time to work with stuidents High Tech High in San Diego.
Proudly serves the community by offering Friday afternoon guitar classes to predominantly Hispanic Youth at the Sherman Heights Community Center in the Historic Barrio District of San Diego.
I am also honored and privileged to contract with the US NAVY to implement guitar programs for the MWR and Wounded Warriors.
I am now in my fourth year of teaching at Coronado. I have students in my Beginner and Intermediate classes ranging in ages from teen to senior.
