Teaching since:
January 2007

Hello and thanks for reading. I grew up in the musically-rich state of Texas, playing everything from ABBA to ZZ Top, and I began teaching in the San Diego area about 3 years ago. My teaching career had been diverse, including teaching Guitar classes at Adult Education and children at the Community Center, and classes to our Navy servicemen and servicewomen.

I hold an Associate of Music Studies Degree from San Diego Mesa College.

I have students as young as 8. so I build a solid musical foundation upon which they can grow. I emphasize music literacy, proper technique, and practice strategies to help them excel as musicians.

Many of my students are mainly busy adults, so with them I do not use conventional teaching techniques - I focus on getting them to play songs. Most of my Intermediate Students started with me as beginners, picking up a guitar for the first time. With a vocabulary of just a few chords and rhythms, you can play hundreds of songs!

* Note to pet owners - I am allergic to cats, but don't mind making necessary arrangements.

Awesome and patient instructor. I started class with learning, laughing and having fun...the next I knew, we were playing a song. Amazing. Thank you so much.

Mr. Roberto is a guitar teacher who specializes in tailoring class sessions for your particular guitar learning needs and strengths. My confidence in guitar playing and learning this beautiful instrument has grown so much since I took classes with him two years ago. I had taken classes before and had made some progress, now that I have learned guitar from Roberto, I just want to continue to learn more and become a great guitar and singer for many more years to come to play for my friends and family.
