I am a Music EC-12 Certified Educator with a degree from The University of St. Thomas and a Masters of Music Education from Texas Christian University.
My previous career roles include being Children's Choir Director for All Saints Catholic School (2015-16), instructor at Cool Cats, General Music Educator for Stafford Elementary School in Stafford Municipal School District (2011-15), and my current General Music position in Irving ISD. My education experience covers many schools and programs in the Houston area, including various HISD schools as well as working with the University of St. Thomas Music Preparatory school as vocal, ukulele, bass guitar, music history/theory, and piano instructor. I am also affiliated with local DFW organizations, singing Tenor for Voices of Fort Worth, teaching private lessons with RBR Muzik (Irving), and playing bass guitar for Holy Family Catholic Church.
My background in music is mostly vocal, working with choirs and ensembles my entire life. I have also spread my abilities to work with Bass Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Piano, ukulele, and voice. I have many experiences with different genres such as American Folk Music, Jazz (Early to Fusion), and contemporary Rock/Pop, World Music, Christian/Worship/Catholic Liturgy, Rn'B, and Country music.
As an Music Educator, I have the strengths of being a distinguished musician and Professional educator which provides me with advanced knowledge in my field of study and interest, teaching for every age group from pre-school to Adult as well as influencing the fun, creativity, and expression of music no matter what the instrument.
*** Lesson Details ***
The music lessons will consist of a concise and strong education of their instrument as well as essential theory and history. I develop individual lesson plans for each student and subject, working on formative goals and objectives to work towards for every lesson and throughout the year. I look forward to being able to help students accomplish and enjoy their instrument, utilizing their interests and genres with a variety of texts and literature at many levels, looking to always expand my own collection to meet the needs of the students. I am comfortable with providing digital and paper materials as well as providing recordings and video studying resources. I know in my heart and mind that I have something to offer to any student at any level in my studio, and, I am equally as passionate about providing an honest atmosphere for evaluation and positive criticism. With every lesson I always encourage brief reflection over the practice, study, and instruction, responding to every critical juncture that comes along the way. Being a certified educator and music instructor, I know that respect, understanding, honesty, human emotion, communication, and professionalism are the most critical components of a healthy Teacher-Student relationship.

*** Studio and Resources ***
I have the necessary tools to operate in and out of my studio. Within my workplace I always have my electric keyboard, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, music library, printer/scanner, recording equipment, full sound system with mixer amp, guitar amp, microphone and stand, tuner, music stands, iPad stand, and comfortable space and seating. I also have expanded my studio capabilities that is an entirely digitized database and curriculum.
I expect for the students to provide their own instrument so that they are able to practice at home. I operate on MAC OS and IPad systems that maximize the technological uses of my in home studio.
Be prepared to learn more than you ever anticipated as I provide many resources. I also push for supplemental music instruction within the lessons, adding basic training and music learning skills needed for accompaniment instruments such as the acoustic guitar, ukulele, and piano which allow for students to have a stronger understanding of their music.

Very encouraging with my dad. He gave him confidence and positive reinforcement. And very thankful he was so flexible with scheduling.
He did a good job
Excellent teacher and very patient.
It was for my grandson. Robert seems very nice and good with kids. I'm very pleased with him.
I asked my daughter to compare Robert to her old teacher on a scale of 1 to 5, she said 10, because she learned twice as much in one session than she did in 5 lessons with her old instructor!
Luc already knows piano and was at first reluctant to learn until he got Robert- he actually said he looks forward to the next lesson
Robert was very thorough with my child to fine tune her skills. She said she learned a lot with just one session.
Robert was very nice and patient with my 4 year old and she told me she loves guitar!
Very very patient and hands on.. everything was in order and he was also very thorough
On first meeting, Robert is easy to get to know. We discussed what my skills were and what to work on. All went well.
Robert worked magic on my daughter. She went from a mocking bird to a nightingale.
Robert is GREAT!
We had a great 1st lesson! Robert is great with kids ! My son left his lesson saying "Well that was fun! I can't wait for my next one !"
Robert achieves the perfect balance between encouragement and constructive criticism to drive improvement. I have already learned ways I've been singing wrongly and have learned new ways of singing correctly. I have a new excitement about singing and want to continue taking lessons.+ Read More
I'm just learning to play guitar. I am very comfortable learning from Robert and am enjoying it!
My 4.5 y/o daughter is loving her weekly guitar and ukulele lessons with Robert. He is kind, patient, and "makes the lessons SO fun" (a direct quote!) In just five lessons, she has learned several chords, and can play a couple of nursery rhymes. My daughter is excited to practice at home, and is excited to learn more from Robert. I can't thank him enough for making her first experience with music such a pleasurable one.+ Read More
Perfect. Look forward to continue learning with Robert.
Robert is a really positive teacher who helped me learn a lot about my voice as someone who had never taken voice lessons. I really enjoyed my lessons with him!
So far Robert seems to be a great instructor for kids, due to his background with school programs.
Great lesson, enjoyed it very much.
I don't have much to compare to since this is the first teacher I have ever had on this subject matter. What I can tell you is Robert for exceeded any expectations I had for a music teacher. He is effective and can tackle individual challenges from unique perspectives that will help you overcome you hindrances all while being very personable. I received Sheet music, training CD's and training documentation. Additionally I received recordings of each lesson which I you will not believe how helpful that is, it's like have the lesson all over again.
Robert takes the approach of an professional educator with high expectations of his students, if you truly want to improve in the realm of music, singing or otherwise, you will improve with him. He wont have it any other way!
Davey is loving his singing lessons
My daughter and I both took lessons from Robert. He is a great teacher and a really great person. Robert impressed me immediately with his knowledge and proficiency on the guitar, bass, ukulele and piano, and his patience and understanding about how to teach music. Some music teachers are incredible musicians but not good teachers, but Robert is great at both.
I highly recommend Robert to anyone looking for a music teacher for any instrument, any age, any genre.
Very patient, and knowledgeable instructor. He's a friendly guy with a good sense of humor. Money well spent!
Robert has been teaching our son (age 12) ukulele online for several months. He has done a terrific job, engaging him. Our son has been taking piano for 7 years, so he had a good musical foundation to build on. Robert has good bandwidth and high resolution mic & camera.+ Read More
He was eager to help me with anything he can. Courteous. Polite. Organized. Great teacher. Thanks Bobby!!!
Robert is a very competent, patient, and kind music teacher. He is always trying to be encouraging and practical. He pointed out my strong area and weakness in a honest and comfortable way. I improved so much during the pass six month of singing lesson and am happy to learn some lovely songs. Now I start guitar lesson with him. Both singing and guitar lessons are challenging to Robert and me as I am not a young learner and everything had to start from the beginning. It has been a pleasure learning music from him. He loves animals and lives with his wife in a lovely apartment; they have a dog, a cat, and a turtle.+ Read More
My teacher has been challenging me with work specifically designed to help me in the
areas where I am weak. I have walked away from every lesson with at least one or two new things to immediately help me improve. I couldn't ask for more than that. I plan to take four more lessons before evaluating my progress again. To say I am
pleased with the quality of teaching I have been receiving would be an understatement.
Bobby is an excellent teacher.
My daughter is eight years old, and she has had an excellent experience with Bobby. He has a gift for being able to push her and correct her while encouraging her at the same time. She loves her weekly lessons.
Robert gets a Triple A Plus in all areas.
Robert is an excellent teacher. He helps me feel confident and capable even when I'm not doing so great! He is professional, competent, always prepared and always considerate. His singing is beautiful and that encourages me.
I enjoy the work because of his attitude and helpfulness. I really am lucky that he was the one I chose to work with. Thanks, Robert!
I have confidence!
Robert was very courteous, patient and professional from the beginning. I've never sung before - other than in church (and that doesn't count) - so Robert had a huge task ahead of him. He helped me to the point where I'm confident in my future project - - and I will always be forever grateful. I highly recommend him. In fact - he was the ultimate instructor and teacher.
Great with kids!
My daughter is 6 and new to signing. Mr. Murillo has been very patient with her and always trying something new things to see what works best for her. We have been very happy with the lessons!
Very good with children
Bobby was fantastic with my kids. He is very personable and easy to get along with. My kids felt very comfortable with him. His teaching skills were fantastic. He was always very patient and kept the kids always interested in the lesson!
Excellent teacher for students of all ages and experience
Robert has been assisting me with my bass guitar and acoustic guitar education. He has expertly weaved music theory into my lessons and has given me a huge boost to my musical confidence. I used to think some things would be too difficult and perhaps insurmountable but with his encouragement I feel a lot more confident. I have been helped because his lessons have been tailored to my needs and weaknesses. Robert is a very friendly music teacher who would be able to assist anyone of any age. I cannot recommend him enough.
My daughter is thoroughly enjoying her lessons with Bobby. His education, real world experience, and great personality makes for an excellent instructor!
Robert is great. My girls are really enjoying their lessons. He is very patient and the girls are learning a lot.
Extremely Helpful in my Journey
My short lived experience with Robert M.overall was extremely wonderful. He is very professional , timely and extremely knowledgable of the business of music. Each session was spent learning the quality of music for my growth as well as each minute spent on the art of music itself. There was no wasted time as well as no wasted money spent for my sessions. I would love to continue to use Robert in the future, if my career schedule permits. He has alot of knowledge to teach the world and a very noticable passion for doing so.
Mother of child taking lessons
We are really enjoying our first few lessons with Robert. He is organized, polite and friendly. My Daughter feels very comfortable with him. He always has his lessons planned and promptly sends out homework. We are looking forward to more lessons with him.
