I teach blues, bluegrass, rockabilly, country and some swing. Ive been playing for 10 years professionally in many venues around the east coast. My degree is what amounts to a double major double minor in Jazz piano/Recording engineering and jazz and classical guitar and having toured and played as a jazz pianist and being around and playing with so many upright players it was a natural progression for me. (on piano we learn to walk bass lines like bass players)

About Robb V.

Hi! I'm Robb: .piano, guitar and bass teacher. I’d like to tell you a little bit about myself.

I started playing piano at 6, all classical music, and by 10 was playing in piano guilds and scoring very highly. However, around 11 or 12 i was searching for something other than 200 year old music and my teacher, being a classical teacher, could only teach me whatever she could find that was written music. Heavily restricting, then, what i could play. So i quit. I taught myself guitar and bass and ended up going to Shenandoah Conservatory for Music and received what amounted to a double major double minor in Jazz Piano/Recording Engineering and jazz and classical guitar.

I played jazz piano for the next 15 years touring Japan and playing many dates....gradually shifting over to upright bass playing much more bluegrass, blues, old country music, and rockabilly. I've played all three instruments in various local and regional bands on the east coast and can think of nothing id rather do than play music and be able to give the gift of the language of music to others.

I hope to be your teacher someday soon! We’ll be sure to make it fun and learn a lot too!

-Robb

Robb is great guitar teacher! He’s fun to talk to, very knowledgeable and always can take what I say I would like to learn and come up with creative tools or exercises to help me achieve that goal.
