A bachelors degree in music ed and 20+ years of playing, teaching and performing experience comes with you to every one of our lessons. Whether it be on trumpet, guitar, piano or voice I will consistently stress fundamentals that lead students towards the musicians they strive to be. I feel incorporating music that is relevant to the student and his or her goals is paramount and doable! I will always demonstrate the techniques and ideas I espouse. Lastly, I show my students the joy music has put in my life and in turn, show them how to play music towards the same ends. I am currently working towards a masters in Jazz Studies at Northern Illinois University (2015) and perform regularly in the area.

*** Lesson Details ***

I loved working with Rick. He works in a very different way, an approach that is really beneficial for me as an adult beginner. He teaches music structure and we worked with a singer songwriter that I love. He is pleasant and patient and very knowledgable. I highly recommend giving Rick a try for looking at playing music from a new angle.

Rick is a great instructor. He guides hew well and motivates her to participate and be engaged. He works well with kids who have had no experience.

My second grade son loves his lessons with Rick!

We are really pleased with Rick's ability to work with our young son, encourage him and challenge him -- while creating a really positive, fun learning environment. We highly recommend him.

Great lessons

Rick is a great teacher. He is very friendly and he is good with working with me as a student. He helped me a lot to hear what I am playing and compare it to others or a track so I can play along and harmonize with the music.

Rick is excellent. Knowledgeable and engaging, he has taught me things about music I would never have found out any other way. I feel like a much better musician after just a few lessons and look forward to learning more.

Mr. Rick

That's what my 5 year old son calls him! I am very happy with Rick and his teaching style, he is very patient with my son and they have a good rapport with each other.
