I encourage my students to pursue all types of music. I like to use “method books” to help with reading and music theory no matter which instrument they choose. I always use supplemental materials that follow the student’s interests and level. I often use technology in lessons to motivate and help students grow. For example, I use many apps for theory, note reading, and rhythm training.

A cancellation 24hrs in advance is always appreciated.

Matt is great. He is very patient and customizes his lessons to the students needs and interests. We have been using him for over two years and my teenage son has developed a passion for the piano and enjoys exploring and learning new concepts. He has learned the gambit of songs from classical to rock to pop and more. It is a pleasure to see my son take an interest in the piano and great to have a teacher that encourages him. Also,I get the benefit of enjoying beautiful music.

I have a B.S. in Music Education. I have worked with several disabled students patiently guiding them, finding creative ways to make music accessible to them. I believe it is not about me or the parent, but the student. I work with children of all ages believing that we can find a way that works so that in a few months you see results. Anyone can learn to sing or play but not everyone is going to enjoy it without the right approach and teacher. I don't want to hear a student say that the teacher didn't listen to me, they wouldn't entertain my ideas.
In my studio I have two piano's and a keyboard. We have monitors and microphones and the ability to record. I encourage the composer to the pop music player, from the classical artist to the Broadway singer.
Currently, I have several students that compose their own music, helping
one of those students to become a copyrighted artist.

For the child I have had the most success with the Bastien method and for the Adult pianist I usually use Alfred's method books. I constantly have access to musicnotes.com to download any current or older hit in addition to the method books. I want you to learn to note read and then to play by chords. I never want the student to lose their creative, artistic ability. They should feel welcome at all times to add input to the lesson. I want you to have fun learning and find the ability in you to make music. Please contact Takelessons if a time does not suit your availability. I may be able to work something out.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I own my music studio w/ piano, seating for parents. I have vocal equipment, microphones and monitors

Want to have fun learning and playing guitar? I would love to help you do just that! I specialize in teaching beginners and intermediate guitar in all forms of rock plus pop, blues, and alternative.

I teach a proven method in allowing students to find a love of playing music that keeps them engaged in the process of learning over the years. Students should be shown how to bring their own personal style and creative expression to their performance. They should also be able to adapt and customize songs in a manner that keeps the songs recognizable and enjoyable, but produces a performance that is uniquely their own. This is a method that I strongly believe in.

Depending on the student's ability and willingness to learn, they can be up an playing songs within a short time, all while learning the correct techniques, chords, notes, scal
es, etc.

I have been playing guitar for over 35 years and have been in bands with numerous styles from rock to pop to metal to gospel. I have 15 years of teaching experience. I currently play in a local Rush tribute band: Animation – A Tribute to Rush. You might also find me somewhere on a Sunday morning playing for a local church.

We would highly recommend taking lessons from Tony G. We have two daughters who both have taken lessons with him. Our oldest daughter, who is 18 now, started taking lessons from him when she was 8. Our youngest daughter started taking lessons from him a year ago when she was 15 and is doing an amazing job! They both enjoy working with him and we, as parents have always been happy with their progress. He listens to the students and what they want to do and what they enjoy and creates a teaching environment that suits them as an individual.

For over 20 years I've helped students of all ages to maximize their vocal potential. Embracing a variety of vocal styles, from classical to contemporary, my students have excelled in musical theater, aced college auditions, traveled as lead singers with rock bands, recorded music videos and reached the higher levels of American Idol auditions.

Seriously such an incredible instructor. He understood where I was beginning from (the absolute minimum) and taught me accordingly. I still value everything I learned from him, and the techniques have come in handy in various areas of my life. As someone who officiates weddings, is an entrepreneur that predominately uses videos to share my business, as well as being a busy aunt of 4 incredible nieces and nephews and has to project my voice-I use gold nuggets of what Prof. Eric Walker taught me on a daily basis. I STRONGLY recommend him-even if it is for a short while! Note-I had him for one semester and grew so much.

For five semesters I studied voice with Eric Walker at Rock Valley Community College. He took the time to show me the basics of using your voice properly in singing. Mr. Walker was patient in teaching me how to breathe deeply which has helped me in my singing today. Also, he taught me how to have more forward resonance when singing. In addition, he prepared me well for my college auditions. I was able to walk into my auditions confidently and sing with clarity.

I have been teaching for 16 years: kids, teens-even beginner vocalists in their seventies! Rockers, an "Idol" finalist, church musicians, lapsed opera singers, preschoolers. ...these are just a few of singers I have worked with, in person, in the classroom, and ONLINE (I just love teaching singers all over the country and the world!) .

What you get in voice lessons with me: laughter as you learn! I have learned solid classical vocal technique from the very best . I have trained with respected opera singers who have performed with companies such as Lyric Opera of Chicago, as well as leaders in vocal pedagogy. I believe everyone deserves the same useful tools- no matter what it is you like to sing!

I am patient and customize each and every lesson. Need more time on ear training? No problem . How about beginning music theory? I can
help with that, too. Are you feeling more confident, and want to focus more on song polishing and getting into the heart of your songs? Let's do it! Confidence an issue? I am a pro with very shy people. I'll get you out of your shell, relaxed, and having fun right away so we can free that voice of yours! I have worked with many singers who have been diagnosed with anxiety: you're in good hands and you can trust me with your voice.

I am also a drama teacher who has worked with groups as well as individuals. Currently, I am the drama instructor at a Montessori School. I love working with beginning acting students! I'll assist with monologue prep, improvisation, voice for the stage, body awareness, and more. I love being on stage and want you to see how fun it is to jump in and let go,too!

I am a constant student in the world of theatre. I am currently taking many courses with the Drama Teacher Academy, and just received a certificate for monologue work ! Currently studying more improv and musical theatre techniques. I want my students to have as many skills as possible, no matter where their love for theatre or music takes them.

If you're interested in beginner ear training or music theory, I'd love to help you with that as well. I present it in a no-nonsense and fun manner! I'll provide you with simple worksheets to increase your confidence in learning the language of music, as well as run you through increasingly challenging patterns and sight reading for the ear training. Don't be afraid: I make it easy and customize it all. I used to be scared of theory,too- so I know what works!

I have been singing for over 20 years. Performances with the Lira Ensemble and Opera on Tap Chicago, and in master classes with international opera stars Alan Held and Lorna Haywood. Coaching with Collaborative Works Chicago and Rossini Opera Festival. Additional studies in Rock Vocals, Voice Care, Improvisational Comedy, Holistic Voice, Acting, Foreign languages, Dalcroze, Speaking Voice for Singers, , Commercial Vocal Styles/Belting with Lisa Popeil, teacher mentoring workshop with Maestro David Jones. Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. Additional workshops in Vocal Pedagogy with David Sabella-Mills, Jeannie LoVetri. Dr. Karen Prokop, Melissa Cross (the queen of healthy scream technique!), Sheri Sanders Rock the Audition training), and Chicago Cabaret Professionals.

Certified CoreSinging Instructor- one of only a few in the U.S. trained by Meribeth Dayme, PhD, respected clinician and authority in vocal pedagogy and author of "The Singing Book".

Completed John Henny's New Science of Singing course.

My students do a variety of great things! One was a top 12 "American Idol" finalist. Current students perform in musicals, top rated choirs, and professional rock , jazz, and blues bands. Many have won awards for their singing at competitions such as NATS. Students of mine have also been accepted to prestigious performing arts high schools for both drama and music, as well as undergraduate music programs in the US and Europe.

I think if you can speak, you can sing. Everyone can and should sing! Don't let anything hold you back. I am a people person that is very passionate about music and singing, and want to be the teacher you'll trust with your voice. Come laugh and learn with me!

*** Lesson Details ***
I teach in person (Northwest Suburbs of Chicago) and online via Skype, Zoom, or FaceTime or TakeLessons Classroom, of course!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Sing and See Software. Additional materials I use: Funky n' Fun Vocal Exercises, Estelle Liebling Vocal Methods, Bona and Dannhauser for sight-reading, Full Voice workbooks for young and serious singers.

About Eric
Hi.
I'm Eric and I own a Music Lesson Studio in Elgin, IL.

I specialize in working with beginners of any age as well as advanced students who are interested in taking their playing to the next level. Here are some of the things I like to focus on.

Child beginners: Learning to read music. Building confidence and self esteem through learning to play guitar. General music education. Teaching children songs they enjoy to listen to.

Adult Beginners: Learning to play popular rock songs. Chord strumming. Having a nice, relaxing, no pressure lesson.

Advanced students: Learning to read music at a professional level. Lead guitar. Jazz improvisation.

I'm a professional, full time musician and educator and my guitar has been paying my bills my entire adult life. I have real world, professional experience playing and teaching guitar
as well as bass guitar, drums, piano, mandolin and more on countless gigs here in Northern, IL. I teach between 30-50 private students per week. I have taught hundreds of students in the past 12 years how to reach their musical goals. I've played tons of theater. I played guitar, mandolin, and drums as a swing musician for the Chicago Production of Jersey Boys at the Bank of America Theater in 2008. In 2014 I played a lot theater gigs for local productions such as Little Shop of Horrors (bass), Hands on a Hardbody (Guitar, Steel/Slide) and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat (guitar). I grew up as a gigging rock n roll/blues guitar player, but my heart is in jazz. I am confident and fluent in, and have gigged most styles of guitar playing.

He gave me a very good and informational lesson on some specific musical questions I had about progressing in my saxophone career. He gave me specific instructions on places to visit, useful websites, and names of people. This information may seem trivial, but I was at a personal stopping point on some issues, and Eric provided the tools for me to continue. About Brandon
Hi, my name is Brandon and I am a 20-year-old college student who has been playing guitar since I started high school. I have always had a passion for both music and teaching. My goal is to teach you the fundamental concepts and techniques of playing guitar that will not only help you be a better player but enjoy playing as well. Through my experience, I have found that many people give up on learning to play the guitar too quickly. One of the primary reasons for this is that new players are not learning in a way that is enjoyable for them. Learning how to read notes and doing repetitive, frustrating exercises will just make you want to put that guitar away and never look back. From the first lesson, I will show you how to play basic chords and scales, and give you the tools and guidance that will let you create your own melodies and give
you the courage and desire to keep learning. I provide lessons for students of all ages. And as always, if you feel as if you have not learned anything or have not enjoyed the lesson then I am more than happy to give a full refund for my services.

I look forward to jamming with you!

Thanks,

Brandon
