I been playing the guitar professionally for over 20 years. In that time I had the good fortune to perform and record with some really good musicians. I've played in various bands ranging from rock to jazz and flamenco. I received my bachelor's degree in recording engineer and record producer from LBCC.
I'm currently a Guitar Teacher for different music schools and have a number of private students as well.

Friendly, knowledgeable, great.
Great instructor, patient, and willing to work at your pace.
Rick is patient and gentle. He has a very easy way about him that makes you feel at ease and even appreciated.
Rick is a fantastic teacher
I've seen more improvement in my abilities in five lessons than I have in the last five years!
OUTSTANDING!!! Rick made playing the guitar fun for me again!!
Rick is a wonderful teacher. I already have some previous music experience, so he is working with me at my level instead of starting me from the beginning. I would definitely recommend him as a teacher.
I've been taking lessons from Rick for over 1.5 years and have shown steady improvement thanks to him. He is always prepared and gears the lessons toward the style of music I enjoy playing. He is patient and keeps the lessons at a comfortable pace while also making sure to push me to progress my abilities.+ Read More
I'm a mid 40's guy who's wanted to play guitar since I was a kid. After a failed attempt in my teens, I hadn't revisited it (unless air-guitar counts) until this year. Fortunately for me, through Take Lessons, I found Rick. He is so very patient, friendly and flexible. The one thing I most enjoy about our lessons is that it's like visiting with a friend for an hour each week - whether we talk about music theory, new guitars or just about our lives, he always is engaged and accessible.
I can't say enough about Rick, he is a very knowledgeable musician, he genuinely cares that you reach your goal and is a really, really pleasant person. If your dream is just to play some of your favorite songs, or to go on to be a professional musician - Rick is definitely who I would recommend.
First rate instructor - fabulous
I'm a 50 something music student who loves guitar but has no particular talent. Rick has been patient with me and his lessons have improved my playing after a short time. I'm playing songs that I would otherwise never attempt.
Excellent Bass Guitar Instructor!
Rick has been my son's bass guitar teacher for the last year. We are impressed with his genuine care and concern for our 17 year old son as a person and a bass guitar player. He always works with us and our schedule considering we have to make a 30-40 minute drive across San Antonio for his lessons. We highly recommend Rick for both his great character qualities as well as his guitar instructor expertise!
Rick is an exceptional instructor!!!
i could not have asked for a better instructor. i am a "no nothing" about music person. Rick is encouraging, kindhearted, and sincere. Even when i dont make much progress he still cheers me on. He gives me the will to learn this guitar, for it is very hard for me. if you dont know a thing about music, or you just want a great guy teaching you good music, Rick is the one for you.
Keep up the GREAT WORK.
Rick is great

I really appreciate Rick's lessons. He is very patient and makes learning easy. I have and will continue to recomend him and get his name out there. Thank you
Fabulous! Rick is not only an expert guitar player, he is an excellent TEACHER of guitar. His patience and skill are awesome!
I started guitar lessons with Rick as a complete begginer. He is extremely patient and knowledgeable. He listens to what kind of music you would like to learn and makes it a reality.
Rick is an awesome instructor. He makes learning very easy and fun. He shows a great interest in your individual needs. My 9 year-old daugther has learned how to play the guitar in such a short amount of time. We highly recommend Rick to anyone who is looking for an amazing instructor!+ Read More
Rick is a fantastic instructor. He allows the student to advance at their own pace. He is patient and kind. He is very knowledgeable and builds a good rapport with his students. I would recommend him to other inspiring guitarists.
A Fantastic Teacher and Great Person
I could not be happier with the guitar instruction I have received from Rick. He is a consumate professional, always completely prepared and extremely well organized. He is very patient and has taken the time to understand and fully comprehend my own inate learning style and has tailor-made my instruction on what he has leared. He allowed himself to be influenced by me before attempting to influence. His talent with the guitar is extraordinary. His demeanor is always pleasant and supportive. Most important, I am learning, a lot, and fast! He has managed to instruct the fundamentals of 12-bar blues (a personal favorite) to a 44-year old dog, who, thanks to Rick, is learning a new trick. I would recommend Rick to anyone. I have already re-upped for four more lessons and hope (money permitting) to stay with him for a very long time. I am extremely glad I decided to contact TakeLessons. THANK YOU ALL and THANK YOU RICK!
Know his stuff!
Rick listened carefully to what I wanted to learn and designed a focused cirriculum to help me reach my goals. He helped me improve my technique as well as how to apply music theory. I really appreciate his positive and encouraging attitude.
