Affordable violin lessons from a young, compassionate teacher

Unlike older teachers, I'm a 26-year old with over a decade of experience in playing and teaching the violin! So I'm able to bring a sense of youthful enjoyment, alongside my patience and compassion, to make learning the violin actually enjoyable. Most students hate learning the violin because their teacher is too strict or boring. I strive to be the opposite — my goal is to make all of my students love their tiny wooden instrument :) I'm also able to charge lower rates than other teachers because my goal is not to make a ton of money by teaching — I have always wanted to make violin more accessible to students of all ages.

    About Richard L.

Hi there! My name is Richard and I'm a 26-year old violin teacher with over a decade in experience playing and teaching the violin. My journey with the violin began in middle school, when I first spotted a funny little wooden instrument in the back of the room :) Ever since, I have gone on to become a two-time All-State Violinist, a multi-time concertmaster, a WNEP Artist of the Week, a member of the University of Pennsylvania's Chamber Orchestra, and founder of the Platt Quartet (performed at various weddings and celebratory occasions). My teaching style exemplifies how I always wanted to be taught — with patience, empathy, and compassion. I have taught students of all ages, from young children to high schoolers and even 40+ year old adults. Beyond the violin, I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2020, where I studied Systems Engineering and Environmental Science. In my free time, I love playing tennis, spending time outdoors with my fiance, and doing water sports.
