About Rebecca R.
Professional classical singer, writer, and music educator with over 10 years of teaching experience in all genres and styles including classical/opera, musical theater/ Broadway, pop, rock, R&B, and folk.
Welcome! Allow me to introduce myself...
After teaching students of all ages and experience levels over the past decade, I’ve harnessed a particular passion for helping teenage and adult students find their musical voices and fall in love with the art form. My teaching sphere has primarily revolved around voice, piano, music theory, and music history. However, over the past few years, I’ve also been training extensively in Alexander Technique and have been progressively incorporating these new pedagogical skills into my teaching studio.
I grew up immersed in music, taking voice and piano lessons from a young age as well as performing in local musical theater productions and choral ensembles. I received my Bachelor's Degree in music from Pepperdine University and subsequently went on to earn my Master's Degree in vocal performance from The Boston Conservatory. As a professional singer, I have interpreted a wide range of works from early opera to world premieres. Past performance highlights include Contessa in Mozart's LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, Manon in Massenet's MANON, Magda in Puccini's LA RONDINE, and Pamina in Mozart's DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE.
Originally from Southern California, I spent the past several years living in NYC where I taught as well as worked as an active performer. Throughout my time living in New York, I was lucky enough to sing at such notable venues as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the United Palace, and La Mama Experimental Theatre Club. I recently relocated to Portland, OR where I’ve continued to teach online singing lessons all the while enjoying the change of pace from New York :).

I would give Rebecca 10 stars if I could. My daughter has been taking piano lessons with her for more than a year and she absolutely loves her! Rebecca is kind, encouraging, patient and a wonderful teacher. I cannot recommend her enough.

Stella was so excited for her lesson with Rebecca, she can't wait for the next one...she loved it!

The first session was great. Rebecca was warm, kind and natural. She wanted to form a solid foundation by asking my daughter about her interest, what she wanted to learn, the artist she likes and let her sing to have an understanding of her vocal skills. We are excited to work with Rebecca as my daughter loved her. Totally recommend her to both kids and adults.

This rank beginner is really excited about learning to sing. In the very first lesson Rebecca gave me a way of visualizing that already improved the sound of my voice.

With each student, I have not only encountered growth in his/her instrument but also overall confidence and success in many aspects of life, whether that be school, work, or other creative outlets.
