I am a professional horn player and teacher in Portland, OR. Currently, I am the fourth horn of the Portland Columbia Symphony and Newport Symphony and enjoy subbing with groups such as Oregon Symphony in the area. I also am a founding member of the contemporary music group Sound of Late, and play many genres in addition to classical music.

My goal as a teacher is to help you reach your goals with the horn, whether that be getting into a music program at a college or high school, rediscovering an old passion, or taking up something completely new. While I often focus on technique in my teaching, it is to serve my students' musical goals and ambitions. To this end, my teaching style is very supportive and inquiry based.

In my experience, a strong ear is one of our most important tools as horn players, so my lessons include elements of ear training, as well as technique, musicality, theory, and history. My teaching style is patient and friendly while still striving to challenge my students.

I can't wait to help you sound your best on the French horn!

Rebecca is fantastic. My son started lessons with her when he was eleven and she formed a rapport with him quickly, meeting him where his interests and abilities lay. He is fourteen now and she keeps him engaged and interested. When the physical demands of horn playing become taxing she teaches theory and composition. She has been responsible for so much of his growth as a musician and a person and is a delightful person to be around, smart, funny and thoughtful. I cannot recommend her highly enough!
