Teaching since:

I am a professional concert violinist and teacher. I hold a Master's Degree in Violin from University of Oklahoma, where I was the concertmaster of the university symphony and an assistant teacher to the violin professor. My extensive musical training has given me the needed skills to be the best teacher I can be.

I have been happily teaching violin for over 10 years, and it becomes more enjoyable each day. I currently teach at The Musicians Learning Center in Raleigh, as well as privately. My experience has included beginner students, highly advanced violinists in music school, and any level in between. Every student is completely different from the next, demanding a very dynamic and sensitive teaching style on my own part. My success in this has allowed my students to consistently thrive under me and to look forward to each lesson as much as I do.

My performance career has included positions with numerous professional symphony orchestras around the country, including the Austin Symphony , the Wichita Symphony, the Amarillo Symphony, and many more. I have also performed in hundreds of public concerts and functions as a soloist and an ensemble musician.

Whether you are picking up the violin for the first time, would like help learning/writing your favorite song, or are an advanced violinist preparing for music school auditions, I am eager to meet you!

Philip was so patient and effective with my daughters. They never felt the least bit frustrated, because he always made learning the violin feel so easy and natural! Even though they only were able to study with him for a short time due to distance, they both made great gains during that time! He has a real gift for putting young children at ease, and finding how to draw out their best abilities!

Philip teaches my daughter violin every Saturday. She has made a lot of progress since she started taking lessons with him three weeks ago. We really appreciate Philip's hard work and patience. Looking forward to many more lessons in the future!

Philip is the best violin teacher I've ever met. I'm a advanced student and I was looking for someone to help me with some specific pieces and tactics. Philip is always very well prepared for every single lesson and taught me a lot of very useful tricks to help me improve in a short amount of time. He is also super patient. Best teacher ever!
