    I have been teaching for over twenty years. I spend time working on proper technique, scales, music theory, and etude study. I also take songs that you want to learn and tailor them to your ability level. Jazz Students can also learn about improvisation, voicings, and applying these to standards.

    About Patrick S.

    Pat is an active multi-instrumentalist, composer, and arranger in South Florida. Pat holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Michigan and two masters degrees from the University of Miami, one in jazz pedagogy and the other in studio jazz writing. While at Miami, he performed with all three of its premier jazz ensembles: Jazz Vocal 1, the Frost Sextet, and the Grammy-nominated Concert Jazz Band. He also played in the Downbeat Award-winning Salsa Orchestra and the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra. Over the years, Pat has worked with artists representing multiple genres including The Temptations, Bruce Hornsby, John Clayton, The Four Tops, Chris Potter, Dave Koz, Patti Austin, Arturo Sandoval, Johnny Mathis, Sir Mack Rice, and the Count Basie Orchestra. As a writer, he has provided arrangements and compositions for the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra, Tiempo Libre, and the Detroit Reed Collective. He can also be seen on the Robert Klein HBO special "Unfair and Unbalanced" and the CD/Blu Ray release of "An Evening with Dave Grusin." Previously, he worked as the house saxophonist and horn arranger for B.B. King's Blues Club in West Palm Beach and the music director at City Church in Homestead. He is currently the accompanist at Temple Israel of Greater Miami. In addition to performing, he maintains a private teaching studio.
