My method of teaching is simple, I teach Understanding not memorization. When you memorize you can only perform, however, when you understand you can both perform and create. My goal is for my students to acquire an understanding of music that will enable them to not only hear, read and perform but also create and be able to break down and explain the music they hear, read and perform. This is why I designed my lessons like Lego pieces that connect one to another to build a musician not just a performer.
