Teaching since:

I am a voice teacher, audition coach, and artist mentor in the Naperville, IL area. I have my B.A in Music from Aurora University and am certified in Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM) Pedagogy from Shenandoah University. I have always been involved in music; I started group music classes at 3 years old, studied piano at 6-18 years old, and performed in choirs, musicals, operas and more.

I started Nicolette Maas Music after I graduated from college. I always knew I wanted to teach voice early on in my degree. I liked performing, but I loved the art of teaching voice so much that it outweighed my desire to make a performance career. I also had a love of musical theatre and contemporary music that I grew up listening to when I was a child, so it seemed logical to expand my teaching to those styles as well.

If you want to know if we could make the right teacher-student fit, here are some of the skills and specializations that I teach:

All Musical Theatre Styles (Tradition, Golden Age, Contemporary, Pop/Rock)
Belting (Musical Theatre & Pop)
Audition Preparation (Choir, Musical Theatre, TV Show)
Classical & Operatic Singing (Females Only)
Whistle Register
Indie & Pop Styles
Jr. High, High School, College-Age, Young Adults

Singing · In studio

As a professional singer myself I was very picky selecting my daughter’s first voice teacher. Nikki has been a wonderful teacher for my daughter. She focuses on both technique and interpretation! She also selects and rotates songs to learn that are contemporary, musical theatre or classical and appropriate for my daughter’s age. While we take lessons locally she also gives them ONLINE which is a perk!!Nikki is a supportive and encouraging teacher and highly recommend her!
