Viola with Nickolette C.

Nickolette Cartales is a Boston based violist and passionate educator. As a classical violist, she is an avid performer of both chamber and orchestral music and to that end, she has attended Brevard Music Center and at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. An advocate of contemporary music, Nickolette is a member of Ensemble Uncaged. In addition to western classical music, Cartales is also deeply interested in music from other world cultures and has worked with the Silkroad Ensemble through the Global Musicians Workshop. An active educator she is currently a teaching assistant at Conservatory Lab Charter School, Boston String Academy, and Longy’s Sistema Side by Side Program. Nickolette’s ultimate goal is to bring music to children and the community as a whole, through performing and teaching. Nickolette has studied with Paula Majerfeld and Kyle Armbrust, holds a B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature and a B.A. in music from Ithaca College, and is pursuing a Masters of Music from the Longy School of Music of Bard College in Boston.
