“ Education is not the filling of a bucket, but the lighting of a fire”
–Yeats
Over the course of 10 years teaching experience, I have gained tremendous success teaching clarinet to students young and old. I have taught in conservatories as well as privately, and have refined my methods of teaching the passionate rigor which music demands.
I teach Classical and Klezmer music, to kids and adults who have never played an instrument before, as well as advanced players. I also teach theory.
I am a devoted teacher, and over so many years, I feel what I have to offer my students has grown exponentially. I know how to work with individuals on their own terms, and have a good sense of how my own playing can help inspire and guide my students.
About me: I am a third generation clarinet player, whose unique, colorful sound has been widely praised. I have been playing solo concerts since the age of fifteen. I currently play in the show Fiddler On the Roof In Yiddish.
I collaborated with Throes Theater, where his playing was praised for its “beautiful tone and sensitive pacing” by New York Arts. Recently, he performed at La MaMa with the Faux-Real Company, and played Alain Middleton's "Music in Klezmer Modes" with Iktus Percussion. He also played with the New York Harmonic Band at Carnegie Hall and he plays with the Metropolitan Klezmer Band. Naum recently established a klezmer band called "Parnuse".
Freelance work includes playing with Mozart Divertimento Trio on Israel Classical Music Station, and with the Symphony Orchestra of Raanana, and the Israel Chamber Orchestra. I have worked on numerous new music projects with young upcoming composers, is the recipient of numerous scholarships including a scholarship from the American-Israel Culture foundation, and was selected by professor Eli Eban to perform a solo concerto at the Jerusalem Music Center. I performed with Giora Feidman at Clarinet Klezmer Galilee Festival, Tzfat.
I am fluent in Russian, Hebrew and English
